Happy Halloween!

Post by muffin57 » Tue Oct 31, 2017 1:35 pm

Happy Halloween everyone! I hope you all have a good one either trick or treating or staying home and enjoying all the kids and their costumes. What do you all do for Halloween? Do you get dressed up? Do you have a spooky house? Do you make the kids sing for their treats? I don't get dressed up, but sometimes I take pictures of some of them and I joke around with some of them. If they shout 'Trick or Treat' vs 'Halloween Treats please', when I let them in I say well, which one do you want the trick or the treat? I like to have fun with them.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

No kids in our area either Ross. Used to have quite a few get driven to our door but that generation is grown up and the new ones take them into town.

I dressed up for work today, a cat, thought it fitting since I work in a Vet clinic. Was the only one that got dressed up, kind of sad. Lots of new staff and not like it used to be. Anyway here's me!! MEOW!! LOL

Very nice.
I think everyone should get the kids back into the old traditions like bobbing for crabs!

Same here no kids sadly. I had two last year but I cheated, I sent a text to the mother to stop in on their way home. Not counting those two, it has probably been about 20 years since the last child came here. In fact my parents loved to tell a funny story about the last time a child came. My sister and I were long gone by this time and my parents hadn't had any kids come in over ten years. Halloween didn't even register with them anymore. One night they heard this soft little knocking at the door. They were totally embarrassed to open it and see this adorably cute little girl in a princess costume. Suddenly realizing what day it was, my mom went to the cupboard to see if they had anything to give her. My Dad with his sweet tooth, had joe louis cakes lol, so that is what they gave her. As long as she didn't dump the other candy on top, that's a pretty good treat lol!

Yes, the times sure are a changing. I didn't even have one kid come here last night. I was kind of disappointed. I look forward to seeing them. I think you are right Flat Rock Farm that they go to town now and if it was the weekend vs a weekday, maybe some would have came. My grandkids live in town, so I live too far away for them to come out here during the week. They will come out to the country on the weekend. They usually start here and then end here. You do look so cute Flat Rock Farm and quite fitting for a vet clinic. That's the spirit! I like seeing everyone dressed up dressed up if I go anywhere on Halloween. The tv shows were neat yesterday and all in the spirit of Halloween.

When we were young we made up our own costumes, we didn't buy them. We received a lot of homemade treats. Halloween has become so commercialized.

No kids here either, just the way it is now, a lot of parents don't even let their kids go out. I miss all the kids!
