Winter Wonderland!

Post by muffin57 » Sun Oct 29, 2017 5:01 pm

I meant to post these pictures a few days ago. This is what we got on Thursday. The highway was closed from Shabaqua (West of Thunder Bay) to the Manitoba border.

Those look like middle of winter pictures! We got a little bit of snow yesterday. It just barely shows on the ground. I hope we get a lot more. Everything is still really dry. The temperature really dropped in the last two days. It's -5 with a -12 wind chill this morning.

We got about 8-10 inches of snow, and we had the wind blowing it around. Ski-dooers were out. The temperature has been hovering around 0 during the day for the last week, and the nights colder. We've been getting a mixture of rain and snow daily. It is snowing 1-3cm a day. The snow has gone down a lot, since Thursday, but I don't think it is going away. Thunder Bay never received the amount of snow that we did, as Lake Superior protected them keeping them warmer. I don't care for the chilly damp air. At least tomorrow night Halloween, doesn't look like it will be too bad out for the kids.

Thanks Farrier1987. Yes, I love it here, I love the country. In the first picture is our patio by the pond surrounded by willow trees. It doesn't show the whole patio, but we have our bon fires there and we cook in a chiminea beside the fire pit. We use Applewood and oh it is so good the smoked foods. I have a few bird feeders and I love sitting out there in the nice weather bird watching. The red wings nest in the bull rushes. My husband cleans the snow off the pond in the winter for the kids and grandkids to skate and play hockey.

Wow Muffin, It looks pretty. You must have a very short growing season up there.
