I love it! SO many people have to give up their animals to move to care, and often they miss it more than anything or anybody else.

Well also many of the activities planned in care facilities are geared more towards women (crafts, dancing, church groups). I think this is partly because women live longer and the population in nursing care tends to be weighted but also those activities are easier to arrange and more "mobile". I saw the men in my dad's home sit in front of the TV and begrudgingly participate in something they weren't very interested in. They were forced to sit with each other during meals at the men's table but didn't really interact. Not that the females wouldn't enjoy the chickens but I can see the men really taking charge of this and forming friendships out of it. I would really love to be involved in bringing something like this program here.

Why not investigate Happy?

When we first retired, we spent a winter in Myrtle Beach with our two labs. One day we simply walked into a nursing home and asked if anyone would like to be visited by us with our dogs. They welcomed us with open arms and we visited every week. That was before we even became certified as therapy dogs.

Therapy chickens anyone?
