mink make nice fur lined mittens.....winter's coming.....just sayin'.....
and i'm saying this as i forgot to close the door on the grow out coop this morning and they were all milling around outside at 5am in the pitched black of night!
ACKKKKKKKKK I did that once too!
It's scary as poop
All my ducks & chickens were walking around in the dark
Can't count the Many times afterwards, laying in bed wondering IF I had closed them up.
Run outside to check, & come back inside wide awake.
Thankfully the door was never found open again.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!

Hubby had sprayed "BUG expanding foam" in his passage way.
I used sardines & a pullet as bait, but he didn't go for her

Spent 3 days covering every hole I could find
Put BUG foam, small 1/4 inch mesh & plywood also
Used 7 X 11 patio stones wedged against plywood trap doors, so nothing gets in @ nite.

AND put the radio back on (used it for the last yr & stopped this summer!!!)
An Old timer said he has the News channel on 24/7 in his coop
Only way he found that would keep weasels & minks away

There is SO many mice, stacked wood & hiding spots,
I worry about the mink returning every nite!!!!!!

OMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I have used a radio outside for a few years now, before we even got chickens. An old timer had told me this too, when we had a deer problem.

My old radio is on 590 sports talk program all day long if the chickens are out. Haven't had any issues since I started using it but that could just be coincidence. It has made me a huge Jays fan though lol

Doesn't work for foxes, I had one come at the birds many times and had a radio playing.

We have foxes here too. I use to watch them out my window, but thankfully they haven't gotten any of my free range chickens yet. A woman who just lives nearby and came to my yard sale in August, was surprised when I informed her that we hadn't lost any chickens to foxes. She said that she is continually losing them. I said it might be because of our dog. Our dog looks after our chickens, but I still keep the radio going too.
