coop/run question

Hi all!

I have read so much conflicting info on how much space chickens need in the run and coop? Id love some insight on this matter lol. I am in the process of building a 4'x6'x4'tall raised (2.5' off the ground) coop, with an attached run. The overall size of the two combined are 6'x10' and 6' tall. How many standard sized chickens do you think I could fit comfortably?
:dunno: :chicken peck: :chicken peck:

From experience I'd put no more than 6 to be safe if they get along 4 preferred . . Run size has nothing to do with space for chickens . Also ventilate well if you haven't already .You planning on having a rooster ?. Luck

Most people recommend 4 square feet of coop space per chicken, so you have 24 sq feet of coop so 6 chickens as Ross said, as long as they get along. Make sure to post pictures of your coop and run.

Best of luck.

I agree, 6 would be the maximum in the coop size you plan on. 4 would be better, because there will be times in the winter when they may not go out in the run due to inclement weather. If it's blowing a gale into the run, I often just leave the pop door closed, because they don't want out anyway. Mine don't like snow. Some hens don't mind it, but many don't like it at all.
