Mullein. A weather predictor?

Post by Jaye » Sun Jul 09, 2017 2:54 pm

I seem to recall a thread about the lore of mullein's seasonal prediction abilities, but don't recall the details. This is the first time a mullein has shown up in our yard, in one of our raised veggie beds, so I let it grow. It's now starting to flower. I was wondering what characteristics to look at and what they mean?
Here's our mullein ...

2 weather predictions:
Daily weather. If the tip leans east, it's going to be a nice day. West = rain
Winter forecast is only taken on August 1st. Rings of flowers show snow fall. The bottom of the flower stock is late fall. Middle is winter solstice and top is Easter.

We had almost no flowers last year and almost no snow.
Year before was not quite as good.
I'll take a picture this year again. Just for kicks.

Wow, thanks, poultry_admin. This will be fun to watch.
Hmmm. Daily weather: Today it's leaning west-ish. Makes sense, because we've had intermittent short bursts of rain all day. Then the sun comes out again, and the humidity is brutal.
Curious to see what yours look like on August 1. I'll take a photo too.
