VENTING because I will burst!

OK gang, I'm just venting because you don't know my hubby
I can't get in for my vent...cause he won't know I did it
For 10 yrs I've wanted to move from our tiny 2 acre farm, to a place with a bigger house, Barn, & maybe a river or pond.
Our area is going thru a mini boom right now, but the newspapers say the home sales are dropping.

I Convinced hubby to just "try" a wacky price that we couldn't refuse & we'd sell if the price was met.
We listed on Friday & Within 36 hours an offer was on the table.

They want a 4 month closing, we have option to rent the house if we haven't found a new place,
BEST news is it's "almost" full price. (1 % reduction from asking price )
They had til 11 pm tonite to firm up or sign back... it's 11:11pm & looks like the deal is now dead!!!!

OMGAWD ...hubby is moaning, bitching, & putting road blocks so it doesn't go thru.
He has a small biz that he doesn't want to give up.
( it keeps him busy because he hated his 2 yr retirement )

He does Not want to move the biz to the new area
He does Not want to sell the house & says I can't force him
He doesn't care that we will get pushed out of this place eventually & maybe too old to renovate the new place.
He does Not worry that once the bubble bursts, we are too old to wait for another boom
He is Not worried that we have already lost $ before by not selling at the right time.
He does Not care that my entire old age pension will only pay the Current property taxes
He does Not care that this deal will clinch our retirement

It is SOOOOO frustrating! I want to strangle him
It's an hourly argument but I have to keep a calm level head.
If this fight gets out of hand, he may shut the whole thing down.

i feel your pain PP!!! although, i haven't been in the position before, but it's not an easy decision to make.
what are his reasons for not wanting to move the business? he might be like me and not like change.....
good luck with your discussions...not going to be easy, but hang in there.
where were you looking at moving to?

His real reason is he Hates change.
We are in he tree biz (Prune, cut or stump)
We can do that ANYWHERE in Canada.
The best farm / house bargains are Tweed, Mamora, Madoc area

He now says"no further than an hour" so he can continue to work here.
But his wish list is long & impossible
He keeps telling the R.E. agent, I don't care if NO one buys this.
Guess he's telling the truth, going to talk "calmly" tonite & Hope it works.

i can understand hating change.....
tell him to move down here, there's enough dead ash to keep everyone busy for the rest of their lives and the land prices aren't stupid yet. LOL

WLLady is right, so much dead ash he'll be working forever. I went through this but I guess from your husbands side. My husband wanted to move out of the area away from my job, family , friends everything I knew. I was hell bent against it as my job for instance I have enough senority that I finally have a great vacation package. He was trying to entice me with a better area for horse riding. I visit my family every day, my mom is quite elderly and although other family members are right there again it felt that there was no way I was moving away to see my family maybe once a year. He told me I could get a job anywhere and ask for the same vacation package which was true but still I wouldn't budge. I didn't get nasty I just wouldn't do it . Finally I found a great property only minutes from my mom's that my husband loves, we bought it at auction and now 5 years later he says hes glad we stayed. I think women have a little bigger view of the whole picture. Stick to your guns! Find the property you want that he will also love and go for it. I didn't argue with my husband I just went about my business untill I got what we both needed!!!

You will NEVER guess what happened!!!
The offer was accepted "as is'
( it was techniqually past the dead line )

We got the $ we wanted, the closing we wanted, & they have 10 days to do their due dilligence.
( they want to make sure they can tear down our 1870 farmhouse & build a 7,000 sq ft house. )
We can build up to 15,000 sq ft, so hopefully this will work out.

Now the challenge of finding a house within an hour of here....that is cheap, barn, pond & private.
