For anyone not too sure about the PayPal thing, you can send money by "Interac e-transfer" to admin@pto.ca as well.
Most online bank accounts allow you to do that now.

The next 6 months will be used to gauge the actual appetite of the collective membership of how much history people want to keep. If we are collecting excess funds, they go to another PTO related cause.
If you want to earmark donations for those other causes instead, please let me know! I will gladly honour that.
This flexibility is the main reason why I started this 6 month before our hands are tied.

@Epona about the membership idea... Thanks for the idea! However, we admins don't see a case for it though. If we were to make the classifieds payable, people would go to Kijiji.
If we make signing up with a payment, no one will join.
If we make sections accessible with donation only, what do we put into it?

On a side note Martin, how many hours do you spend maintaining the site? 5 per week?

And other admins?
At the moment @WLLady is close, but it doesn't take that much to keep it running. Mostly it's me having fun looking and testing new things. Like the games. Admins saw the first versions about a year ago. But that isn't really necessary to keep it going smoothly.

Next thing coming up is a post reaction that has more than just the like button. :yay:

I found a way around the file storage issue! :stars:

As luck would have it, a new extension was approved the weekend after my original post that allows for outsourcing the files to a very cheap storage location. This changes the yearly storage cost of one year data from $35 to $1.5. Now carrying 3 years of data will cost $4.5 instead of $100. Although not free, it's cheap enough for me to not worry about it anymore. I have been testing it and implemented it over the weekend. I don't think anyone noticed... If anything, pictures show up a bit quicker for me.

To the gracious downers: Since we overlapped with the donation and solution, please contact me if you want me to return your donation. I will gladly do so!
All new and not returned donations will be used for other :PTO: purposes as decided by the admins.

Ok, happy fathers day everyone!

The donation extension is setup to show you in a group "Donor Coop" if you make a donation. If you don't want others to see how much you donated, go to UCP->Board Preferences->Set "See your donations" to NO.

Made it all the way to UCP Donations, but couldn't find a way to set it to NO

Seeing that the first few that donated all wanted it to be private, I went the anonymous way by default for now.
Admins see it, no one else does. The Group assignment was not needed for that either (since it's all anonymous), so I removed that as well. The groups would have allowed for different username colours or other badges.

If anyone wants it to be public, no problem.
