So I had set Bianca on six eggs. Five hatched. The two yellow ones are from my broody line, the grey one from an olive egg, probably a Marans daddy, and the two black should be pure Marans. Bianca is a good mom. She is the one that pinned the goat behind the tree last year, she is fierce. Not with me, but the other chickens, a dog, a goat, a horse, she will fly right in their face and settle their hash. I like her a lot. She is from my broody line, some exchequer leghorn, indeterminate bantam and half Americauna, as you might see from the cheek tufts. I do like my broodies.

I have fertile easter eggers on kijiji right now, and have sold a few dozen and will continue to do so. But thinking about it, I have generously been given eggs from other PTO members, and if anyone on the forum and in my area wants, I will give for free if they come get them. Just let me know. (Naomi, this means you too.)

One guy replied to the ad. Says: they are fertile so they go in the incubator
That was the total message, nu punctuation, caps or anything. I replied that he could put unfertile eggs in the incubator too, but these seemed to work out better and sooner. Says he will be here tomorrow to pick up a dozen.

Oh my kijiji ,the nuts that respond to those ads, I had one who just wanted one egg to hatch out and wanted to make sure it would be a hen. Would't we all like that!

Congratulations on your brood!

Could I get in on the fertile hen only eggs? Possibly rainbow coloured with Polish crest, silkie feathers and Mille Fleur D'Uccle colouring with some frizzle. And could it be a litter trained hen too? I can pick up for free (;

You have a very cute little bunch of babies! Congrats.
