Classifieds

Post by bodabing » Mon Jan 04, 2016 6:12 pm

Just wondering if most members have made it over or if we are missing a large number? The classifieds seem to be limited from what they normally have been. Always growing pains with change but just wondering if we can do anything else to get the word of the change out ? Maybe the group has came and my observations are wrongly assuming things. Would a kijiji ad or a post on the Facebook Ontario poultry forums help?

We have most of the active pso members over judging by the numbers. I think key there is "active". The classifieds are a totally new thing-we are going to ask everyone with "for sale" posts to migrate them over to the classifieds on the home page. I know we lost one person because of the locked sales threads but they could not figure out how to use the home page *sigh*. We just could not make him happy with it. I will be taking down the sales "where can i get" section once everything is moved to the classifieds.

K, it took me four attempts to post the first classified ad for me too so I almost gave up too so I do understand it. But hope most will keep trying like I did cause it is working fine now. :coolguy:

i hear ya bodabing. it's a bit confusing, but we can't change the way the programming is set up without some major issues. just remember to hit continue or next...there's 4 steps to getting it done. one thing to remember is you HAVE to set up your login on the front page with an account there in order to post to the classifieds. My hubby (admin) has posted that process on the updates thread. once you register on the frontpage (it will make you an account with wordpress i think) then you can submit your ad. When i get some time this weekend i am going to try to get all the sales posts moved over that are still in the forum "where can i get..." and then remove that section of the board completely. We are also working on a way to get updates to you in a more seeable manner-so everyone knows. and I PROMISE the major changes are almost over! we are going to implementing a couple of fun things (you'll see soon), and a new showing section, and then we will leave things alone for people to get used to them for a while-and only update if there's issues or something cool and new comes out for the programming.

Hey WLLady

Maybe, If someone made a Sticky - " How to Post a Classified Ad" it would help? I did not have any problem posting in the Directory section, It is just different than most classifieds sites and takes a bit more thinking to place an ad.

I have spelled it out in the new announcement.....was hoping to not have to do a sticky for it....LOL. if people keep having issues i will, so far only a couple of people have had a problem, and they weren't hitting "post ad".....

There aren't many classifieds posted so that could mean more are having trouble than you think, they just are not saying anything. Hopefully not the case. I just kept getting kicked out as I was about to finish my ad. After 4-5 tries I got it to work. So still not sure what was happening then as it is fine posting ads now.
