But Tom, you have to wait until it's winter before you start dreaming of spring planting.....;)

I did some gardening the last couple days. :-) the kids and i pulled the rest of the potatoes on Sunday. we then planted a bunch of Garlic from Clawton, thanks man! Monday I finally cleaned up all the dead plants and raked them all up into the middle of the garden and had a pretty nice bonefire that lasted all day.

Now if I could only figure out WTH I cant consistently get spark on this old 70's tiller I have converted into a pull behind the lawn tractor implement I would have the gardens tilled by now! stupid points and condenser! I tried converting it over to the modern electronic ignition but that didn't work either and it nearly pulled my friggen arm out of the socket backfiring! GRRR the old parts test fine and I had a strong spark when I put it all back together properly, it started and ran awesome for about 5 seconds, then sheared the flywheel key cuz I didnt torque the nut down! and now after I replaced the key I dont have any spark and its DRIVING ME CRAZY! I want to turn the big garden into an ice rink for the kids so it needs to be flat... which can only leed me to one more thing... buying the actual electronic ignition conversion kit for this old motor. hmmmm

I got a catalog from Veseys last week but I'm no where near the planning what im planting next year stage, we have lots of seeds as it is so we probably wont be buying any more.

Happy Winter Gardening!

:hide: I got my veseys catalogue about 2 weeks ago....i know what i want, i have gone through and circled everything i want.....and this is from someone that probably won't garden this coming year, and has to figure out how to do everything again after surgery....and there's no snow on the ground yet here, and it's a lovely day out again....LOL. but looking through the catalogues keeps me sane i think....or "saner"....

Sorry,I am slow on the uptake most days, what is the controversy?

I have been browsing the Heritage Harvest Seeds website. Lots of goodies.

Over here they tend to call the Solstice the start of winter! To me (from Europe) it's when they used to feel that the worst was over and there was hope hence Yule logs and stuff burnt over that week. I'll have to check some of the old rituals out.
