Norman Rockwell's "turkey type"

Many of you are possibly familiar with Norman Rockwell's famous painting
"Freedom From Want" from 1943
What struck me is the turkey being served, since the painting is very realistic, it's fair to assume that the turkey is also a representative of a bird of 1943, no "butterball" there!
Want to guess the breed?

I have never seen that painting before but it sure is realistic!!! Beltsville small white? it looks about the size of the one we had last xmas. mmmmmmm delicious!

I love his paintings, beautiful, midget white is my guess but I don't know just guessing.

I'm going to guess Unimproved Bronze or Bourbon Red. Judging from the keel, he was a bit underfed, but a good size nonetheless. Really just a wild guess though...if I could have seen it raw it would be easier since dark feathers leave behind ink dots when they're plucked :D

me too! the kids fight over the legs, kinda hard when theres 6 kids and only 2 legs. HAHAHA :-D
