Yep, how many times do you hear "Back up what's important & save to a disc"
Maybe a MILLION times, but nooooooooooo :dunno:

Computer was trying to Update my latest Windows
Lots of ensuing drama & now I have a Frozen PC
Have spent 3 days trying to get things going.

Consensus is it needs to be wiped clean....poop sandwich!
( meaning ALL my fab pics will be shot into cyber space )
<< thank gawd I entered my Pic for last months PTO contest!!! >>
I am working with a few techs & am hoping some of the files can be saved.

Grab a disc & SAVE your pics & files!!!!
Do it TODAY ~ it CAN happen to YOU :eggyolk:

That was me this time last year. :rain: Not with my own computer, but with my business server. I was lucky and got everything back because of the hosting company and they advertise EVERYWHERE that they are not responsible for backups, the customers are. They did a backup anyway and I lost a week of entries, not too much of a problem.

So now I have LOTS of backups with an outside firm. PTO is part of the daily, weekly, and monthly updates as well. Hopefully we are OK now.

With my computers, I hardly save anything on harddrive anymore. Google drive, OneDrive or any of the other cloud services are just too convenient, backed up, and accessible from any other computer I log on to. I like the cloud....But it comes with it's own problems...

My iCloud is filled up!
BUT I'm lucky to have 2 different tech friends.
Both have told me it may be possible to retrieve some files & pics.
( the biz files & pics are my biggest concern )

Thank goodness I can use DH's PC
Has taken me a day of doing his updates & cleaning.
He is NOT a computer guy....More time for me!

I think you are right, this will change how I save things.
I have no excuse either.
My 1st computer ever ( HP milleniuum ) had little space.
I bought an Exterior hard drive to save pics & files.
There is a TON of space on that hard drive.
