Post by Home Grown Poultry » Wed Dec 23, 2015 1:58 pm

:big chicken:

home grown turkey = home grown goodness! and plus I wont have to worry about him attacking the kids any more! I did him all by myself as Lizzie had to go to her real job... haha! my job is usually kill n pluck but I did it all. kinda proud of myself right now! I should have did him a couple days ago since he is on the menu for tommorow but hes still guna taste great!

Congrats, Al! I'm impressed! Since it was a nasty bird, I have a feeling it'll be extra tasty. :turkeycook:

YUM! looking great! perfect timing too-let it rest in the fridge until cooking and it should cook up beautifully! and jaye is right-the nasty ones seem to taste that much better on the plate!

Nice job Al, looks professionally done. Was that a BSW turkey? Age? Weight?

thanks guys! yup beltsville sw 2+ years old give or take. he was a little heavy 25lbs fully dressed. ill weigh him tommorow before prep and check the dressed weight. he had a lot of fat on him so he should be extra juicy!

he was never nasty toward adults but seemed to think any kid was another tom and he never did calm down.

so I went and let my main tom out finally, his name is Tom and his girl, I banded them originals finally and then I sat and watched the fight between him and his son Jake... about 30 mins later its settled and yup dad is the winner... obviously. LOL. Jake is destined for the freezer.
