yeah sure, they passed the inspection. they knew the scheduled inspection was going to be on a certain day.

DISGUSTING, and probably typical of Ontario egg collection facilities.

I am SO glad that I have a big bunch of healthy generous girls to supply me and my friends with humanely produced eggs>

Well it's not really news, that's what the life of a hen is in the battery cages, thankfully they are phasing them out.

There are a number of large egg farms here. In one facility, They used to have 2 guys whose sole job was to remove dead hens from cages.
Sadly, "free range" inside those buildings can be almost as awful.

oh yeah free run eggs would be WAY worse. its the same barn minus the cages so the hens instead of cramped with a handful of other birds would then be cramped with all of them. no way to remove manouer or dead birds so they would be walking in and laying there eggs in it.

I dont think its the industries fault and rather all of ours. everyone wants things cheap and no one really cares where it comes from. when society became disconnected from its food source is when the problem started.

is it disgusting? YES is there a better way? YES is it guna cost a lot more money? YES but will anyone care where their eggs come from? doubt it, people care about the money and thats the problem.

man am I ever glad we all keep our own birds, produce our own eggs, care for our birds like they are a member of the family and well they are.

free range birds have so many biosecurity problems, but maybe just maybe such a high level of bioscurity wouldnt be necessary when the birds have a strong natural immune system.

Supply and demand. Until consumers refuse to buy cheap white grocery store eggs, producers will continue to supply them. I am very thankful that I never need to support that type of egg production.

“We are aware that video from one of our farms has been released, and we take the matter very seriously,” said Mike Walsh, executive vice president of Gray Ridge Egg Farms. “I am disappointed in the practices depicted in the video, and can say with certainty that what is shown is inconsistent with our high standards for animal care.”

Why does anyone even bother trying to come up with an excuse for this poop? Blah blah blah... say enough words... and people will forget all about what they've seen/heard.

I used to go buy ready to lay pullets every year... just to save a few poor birds. I wish NO laying girl had to live like this.

Love my girls.
