Unless you get treated very early and that depends on realising you've been bitten. The treatment has changed though and is a lot less painful. Used to be injections in the abdominal wall of immunoglobulins and such.

Newer antivirals have increased survivability dramatically. A few years ago, 6 (If I recall) organ recipients contracted rabies from the organ donor...I believe 4 recovered, which is a miracle if you think about the immunosuppressants they have to take to prevent organ rejection.

It was quite a few needles over a period of time
Not in stomach. Just in arm

I have had the series too....just in the arm...but injecting 10ml of anything anywhere hurts quite a bit....
