Re: Good Morning!
@Happy , what about a "three sisters" garden (corn, beans and squash)? Is there enough room for a small one? I think 10 square feet is the minimum.
Or a big wall of sunflowers with tomatoes and peppers in front. Apparently tomatoes and peppers do well planted together.

Re: Good Morning!
mammoth russian sunflowers (unless you have windows there) with tomatoes on tomato spirals in front of the sunflowers and peppers in front LOL. oh ya, like jaye said! and maybe throw a basil plant in there too and have brushetta in the fall!
the mammoth russian sunflower heads are wonderful seed snacks for the birds. i just cut the entire head down and let it dry a bit and then put the whole thing into the coop, they eat the seeds right out of it. when it's done i just shovel out with the litter change and it composts in the manure pile. i grow seriously LOTS of them love how big and cheerful they are. and a bonus, in the fall after the leaves die off the stems are big enough to use as fire starter for the bonfires outside! burns hot and fast.
okay, my to do is never a to done list @ross !!!! but i always have big plans, lets me look forward to doing things and i hate being bored. and i love the way it all looks when it's all done.
driving in this morning i found our little farm market in the country (musketts) has mums on 3 for 20$ or something, nice big ones....so i'm stopping on the way home and getting some!

Ha ha Ross!
My hubby makes to-do lists, and if he does something that's not on the list, he sometimes adds it and crosses it out. Makes him feel as if he's accomplished a lot :)

Re: Good Morning!
Thanks for suggestions! I think I'm going with peppers and maybe some extra tomatoes. I don't have a lot of depth to stagger plants. I have a veg garden but it's quickly being shaded out by a big maple tree. And I'm too lazy to move the garden lol. Truthfully half the garden still gets more than enough sun so I may just sod the other half and be done with it. We make jars and jars of salsa every year so I can never have enough peppers or tomatoes. And if I get them out of the main garden it gives me more space for pickling cucs or beans...or beets or... Lol

Really hoping the second of Sister's kids perks up. SHe's been a little backward from the beginning but there is nothing obvious wrong. SHe just rests more than the other (who is very vigorous). SOmehow just not doing well.

Re: Good Morning!
"It's full on sun and always feels about 10 degrees hotter there since it's wind sheltered and the brick from house heats it up. I'm thinking peppers? ". Sounds awesome! You'll have a longer growing season and add lots of mulch so it'll deal with heat when it hits. I've seen similiar scenarios of folks with a garden inside of stone walls from an old barn: looked like the south of France.
