I know I'm a bit late, but do want to add my thanks to Kathy and Martin for hosting a very enjoyable PTO picnic. I wish I could have stayed on a bit longer, but had family commitments. The food was yummy, company was great, and it was good to finally meet those in Western Ontario who were able to make it. I really like your Wheaten Ameraucanas and your Welbars, Kathy. Beautiful birds.
We drove back on Sunday evening and wound up getting stuck in stop and go traffic for almost ninety minutes on the 401 in Toronto. We should have been home before midnight, but wound up pulling into our driveway at 3:00 a.m. Have I mentioned that I really don't like driving anywhere near Toronto?
Also, congratulations on your 25th, Ross and Donna!

Keep your fingers crossed for Stephen. He must have got something in his foot and when we checked him it looks like a big core came out. Had to dig around some more and pack with antibios and BluKote. Poor guy was very good considering.

Redressed his foot this am, thank goodness he's placid, as long as I hold him he's fine. Foot looks good and he's walking on it. We kept him in a roost free coop overnight to rest it. We've put lower roosts in the main shed before for him but he prefers higher. I believe it's a behaviour to show dominance, now the mature Jakes are gone he will roost lower.

That's good news, KB. Sounds like he's healing up nicely.

I was considering picking up the turkeys but have a few stops on the way home Friday so will be in my vehicle a long time.

I might be back down the weekend of August 19th.
