I think I have a peacock!
Every morning I hear this bird call out, one morning I suddenly realized it sounds like a peacock, I have never been able to catch a glimpse but it's very loud and sounds like the peacocks on tv when they do shows about wildlife in India. Is there any way to catch it? Do peahens make a sound to lure him in? Or do wild turkeys make a loud sound similar to peacocks?

LOL. it probably IS a peacock....we have a peahen somewhere in the bush north of us, i heard it last year deer hunting, saw it once....it wandered away from a farm about a mile away, and never went back LOL. the boy is still at the farm, and last i heard the girl was during turkey season this spring, so she made it through the winter. i have no clue how to attract them in, it was sitting on the roof of my barn one evening, but left before dark. they don't make many sounds like turkeys and vice versa...at least not in my experience. i know domestic turkeys will call in wild ones...but no clue about peacocks/hens. good luck though! someone probably had it wander away from their farm.....

They can go wild very easily. Then again, their cries can carry for quite the distance. Maybe at a neighbours. The folks a concession away can hear mine.

I keep thinking about this point. You don't have the peahen.... There is one you'd like to have.
Good luck!

I forgot about posting this. The sound stopped for about a week so I figured it was dead. Then one evening I heard it very loud and what should walk out into the pasture but a beautiful peacock! So I wasn't imagining it. A few days later a young women came in asking if I had seen a peacock. Darn thing would come to her and then one day she dropped a cage over it and took him home. Saw her this week and she got him a wife lol, oh and clipped his wings.
