Stuff - Ramblings

I started off in good morning thread, but I just kept rambling. It's more just spilling my thoughts this morning and it's totally full of randomness, so thought I'd put it here, in its own 'stuff' thread.
Phew. Rain. What a relief!! Looks like more coming this morning. Bring. it. on!
I am covered in no-see-um bites. I'd take 100 mosquito bites over these. They are so itchy. I'm on antihistamine 24/7 and I hate to take that stuff. Grrrr!!! Last night I had to out essential oil of peppermint all over my legs and arms just so I could get the chill effect, which seems to help with itching. Sooo frustrating.
Josh stood beside me this morning. I just realized he is taller than me. When did this happen? Crazy how fast time flies. He goes for his G2 this week and he's only 16. Then the real worry sets in. Being a parent is stress from day 1 to the end. He's also going away with friends and their parents to some race weekend in a few weeks. So much growing up and maturity has happened in the last year, it is quite amazing to reflect back on all of it. I remember when he was born, the nurse handed him to me and said 'this little man has been here before and he'll be one special person this planet needs' and I looked at him and he had a sour puss face, which became his trade mark, and Lou said, yup he's been here before LOL. To this day I call him my little man. Wise beyond his years. On Friday, he doesn't know it yet, but he is being recognized at the food bank for his contributions since the age of 11 with a plaque. 5 years under his belt and hundreds of hours.
I give a helping hand to a single mom locally with eggs and a few other things and Josh built her son a new dresser at our wood shop. She lives in a bachelor and when I dropped eggs she invited us in for a moment and we noticed she keeps clothes in milk crates. It's nothing fancy, but it's a functioning dresser and 100% his idea, his work and his money. It's drying and we will be ready to deliver it this week. They're going to be surprised as they have no idea.
We are entering a tough period for food banks. Holidays and schools do a lot of collecting of non perishables for food banks, and with the summer months and school out (almost) things really dry up. Holidays do a great job of reminding communities to support the less fortunate, but during the summer it seems to fall off the radar. If you're able support your local food bank now is a really important time. Even spreading awareness is incredibly impactful. One non perishable food item often is a meal. Some food banks will also take produce from the general public, so if you have a surplus and offering to a food bank is an option for you, there are so many that are appreciative of fresh produce.
ATV parts are in, gotta get them picked up so JT can fix it and next weekend we're hitting the trails for a day. I love hitting the trails. Something fun to look forward too that's for sure.
Checked on my PAL application and the fee hit my credit card. The first process is complete and now we are onto whatever is next. At least their is some progress. Probably should of just sent in for unrestricted first, a quicker process, and then upgraded to my restricted after. Oh well, it's in the works. Haven't seen a coyote since we started target practice. Murphy's law or what?!
Picked up my new gun safe last night. Crazy steal at TSC, one of those flash 24 hours online sales. Saved hundreds! Love it when that happens.
Today is a work day. Gotta get at it. Have a good day y'all.
Did I mention I'm getting a puppy?
