I think they should open the season WAY up! give us all an extended opportunity to help out with the growing population. none of this open now but closed tommorow, 5 in the bag today but 3 in two weeks, extra spring season if your municipality dosent allow sunday gun hunting CRAP. They changed the freezer limit a couple years ago to unlimited but the regs pretty much stayed the same. I think it should be open Sept to March, 6 bag no freezer limit. that way if they are there, hunt them. none of this leaving early n coming back late due to crazy weather patterns.
you know what should be illegal.... the protection of the invasive mute swan, responsible for the displacing of all waterfowl n shore birds wherever they are and attacking people. that population is waaaayyyy out of control.

Its an interesting dilemma...and no one is going to agree i wager...there is no pain/hardship etc to the embryonic egg...no one will ever convince me otherwise...the problem is goose overpopulation in these areas...taking away the eggs isn't going to do anything other than maintain the current population for years less hunted losses until the current breeding pairs stop breeding due to age or death...and that means you gotta get ALL the eggs..thats quite the undertaking...so i think IMHO, that its a waste of time and money...and lastly, as an afterthought, i think taking eggs from laying hens isn't as emotionally traumatic as taking eggs from a brooding hen...most of my girls lay eggs and then just get off the nesting box and go about their daily business....not at all the same as raiding the eggs from a breeding pair of wild geese who are in the serious business of procreation....just my thoughts...its bringing out the soggy emotions in people as one would expect..

Because if they hatch they'll be back to the park , crapping & chasing people & raising there own . . Let the wild ones that don't live in town raise the babies . Migratory birds come back to where they were born and if you get the facts straight there is no lack of waterfowl destroying the flora & fawna . To many in one area spread desease amongst one another & a slow pitiful death but most folk would rather see that than they be raised free & end up in my freezer feeding my family . Luck & Common Sense

I am with Ross. Too many birds? Eat them. I say we have a harvest of adults and use the meat at homeless shelters and soup kitchens. Goose meat too tough? Goose burgers. The amount of

they drop in city parks is unreal and creates a hazard for pets and children. In city limits, geese should be controlled (and ducks). Outside the city, let them be.
(Its pretty hard to argue with the idea of feeding homeless.)
