Shopping for a barn fan at TSC

Post by Ontario Chick » Tue Apr 19, 2016 10:06 pm

On my excellent day off, with time on my hands, I headed West as far as half a tank of gas would take me.
First stop,
TSC to check out barn exhaust fan , which I started shopping around for, 8 weeks ago, when I got rudely interrupted.
There are 3 portable barn fans on display, and no matter how hard I search, no other fans.
Gather courage (although I know better) and go ask at the Customer service desk.
Hm, she said, let me find the SKU code....after a very long time of fruitless search, she says, well there is this exhaust fan, but it's very expensive....
I lean over the counter and sure enough there it is, so I exclaim Yes Yes, that's the one, do you have it?
She says, I am pretty sure I saw one around somewhere, what size do you want??
I say what size do you have??? Now I can feel John Cleese beside me in a Cheese shop...
She says, we will ask Mike, follow me....
we find Mike and head to the back of the building and then out of the building, where we all look aimlessly at very tall shelves full of many boxes...Mike says, unless it's in the tent??? ...then they both decide it must be in the warehouse...
We all traipse back in to the store and she says WAIT HERE, now frankly, if I thought I could make a run for it and make the front door before she could catch me, I would have made a brake for it, but with the passage being blocked by many things TSC is hoping you will purchase by accident I don't think I have much hope, so wait patiently.
Eventually she comes out carrying a very large exhaust Fan, that must have fallen from one of those very tall shelves, because the square plate has 2 corner bent completely out of shape and the "head" has got a chunk out of it and bits of rust sticking out.
No box, and there is a paper tag, but the print is illegible......so I says...USED???? and she says no, just been around for a long time.......

I was contemplating ordering it on line, but I really need to touch it first I think.
I don't really have lots of patience for shopping, this was only really funny because I had time on my hands.

I like a lot of the stuff that TSC has to offer, but lately the staff knows very little, and dont always seem to be inclined to be very helpful and of course, unless its on sale, the pricing is nothing special....good luck in your search, OC....and 'Big Boy" is crowing his head off..all's right with the world

Oh dear! That's too bad, it would have been worthwhile if they had what you wanted. How come they didn't sell you the one under the counter? Defnitely Python- esque though........ Fetchez la vache!

There is a pretty funny post script to this.....
Had a call from a "friend in poultry" the other day, his opening line...."I hear you got my Fan" ???????
Apparently he read this post on PTO and from my description recognized the fan, which he was offered this past December, with an offer of $50 discount!!!!:)
