I've always wanted to travel but now I'm not so sure.

We don't travel because we are tied down by dogs and chickens, but someday I thought seeing the beauty of the planet would be a good idea. This is not what I have in mind- Ugh! Why even bother? Might as well just go to the mall. And I don't think these photos are even that recent- look at the vintage of the cars.......

The trick is to get off the beaten path and actually INTO the world....

When I was a lot younger I dreamt of seeing western Canada & the cowboy life . Instead of going on the beaten trail , we packed up went to Alberta & lived the cowboy way & saw what attractions also were there away from tourists season . Did it for 7 years . Glad I did .dig deep you'll find it if you want it bad enough . Luck

Even just going at a different time of day makes a difference. We went to the Alhambra Palace in Granada Spain. First trip avoided most of the tour people by hanging back abut a local told us to go on special evenings. They place soft lights in the Palace and gardens and there were maybe only 20 people in all there. Wonderful.

One of our favourite parks, you do one portage over and there's nobody! Not even in busy season.

Lake Placid in October is stunning. Its fall beauty blocks out anyone and everyone who normally would be in your way at home.

When travelling you will have a different mind set. Dishes aren't waiting at home for you, laundry, who cares, there's more clothes in the suitcase and you don't have to clean the bathroom when you leave. Dinner is made for you. People are generally kind and generous and you can choose to be social or reclusive. I don't go away often, but when I do, I make sure it is something I really really want to do, this way nothing can ruin it for me. Not even humans lol.

I'm heading to Nova Scotia, kayaking, exploring, taking in the scenery day and night, looking to watch the whales leave the bay of fundy and the only way I won't enjoy it is if I am dead before I get there. Should see my little cabin on the ocean inlet.

Might hit Lake Placid and Vermont in the fall again. I'm taking advantage of the teenager @ home who is now capable of holding the fort down with reliable supportive neighbour, plus a Nonna that loves to come and hang out with her little man :)

I've always wanted to travel but now I'm not so sure.

Were you thinking about Yellowstone, Robbie? I've never been, but most places in the south west are lonely during the summer heat, plus the cacti are in bloom! : )

Yes!!! Looking for nature, not other humans. Seen enough of those for a lifetime! Glad to hear it's still possible. Thanks everyone! :-)

There's also eco friendly tours , just yourselves, out there all over the world . Just takes research & bucks . I've heard of hunt camp outfitters in western Canada etc that will take you off season ( non hunting) horseback or hiking , chopper in whatever into the mountains . Just a matter of checking out tourism boards on Webb . Luck

Big bucks! I'd better stop buying chicken stuff. ;-)
