If you can. Famous last words, lol.
Hubby went salting/plowing at 5am. A real light fine stuff coming down. Heavier since. The bus ride was SLOW. I was surprized to see the time, when I just got in, from the barn chores. I fed the cows 3 buckets of silage, then shovelled out the FAT feeder, because lord only knows, why someone can't just feed what the youngsters can clean up..... gave that to the cows.... then filled the feed cart for tonight, inside for the fats. They had enough on the floor from last night, so I swept that in, with a 5 gallon pail of corn sprinkled on.
Then after pushing that inside, I switched tractor buckets, put on the spear, got a pail of oats... took the horses (who live in the hay shed area) around to the other side of the silage pit, and put up the electric wire. I divided the field in half last year, so when stuff is being done IN the hay shed.... the horses aren't running out the gate.
I brought 3 bales (one a second cut for the fats... GAry can skid steer that inside whenever), and got a nice second cut for the cows. Treat day. Only because the first cut that is left, is 4 high. And, right against the square left for the horses to get in and out of the weather.... and I didn't want to chance tipping one to that side... or have one come down the loader arms, onto me. Not much first cut left.
So the bull wouldn't get me, I positioned the haybale above the feeder, and climbed up and up the loader arms, and sat on the bale to cut the strings. When I was nearly done, I felt a weird sensation, and just in time, realized I had speared too high on the bale... and the outside layer was sloughing off. Good thing at that time, my feet were ON the bale spear attachment so I could get off quickly. Whew! Glad that didn't happen when my whole body was on it, cutting the furthest strings.
I need some carbs... so figured as how its nearly lunch, I would have some left over spaghetti... and then I will go out and bed everyone. I need feed today too. Perhaps after bus today. Or in the morning. I am all out, but most of the feeders have feed still for the birds!
Nice out!! Mild!! Good thing, because my gloves were soaking wet, and my hands were getting to the point where they were being useless.
