Good Morning!

Post by poultry_admin » Sat Feb 13, 2016 7:07 am

Here is the crazy part. It stayed just east of us so far. Can't be more than 5km away. But didn't snow here (yet). In any case, going to plug in the tractor now (diesel). Likes a warm belly of oil to get going at -17.

Coop doors are open.

Silkies dashed out as per usual and my rescue porcelain is Still on her eggs from yesterday. Having coffee then I'm going to investigate to see how serious she is. I have some serious troopers for silkies. Mind you they walk on straw and wood chips so they don't get the full winters effects on their feet.

My girls took a little while to get off the roost but they're hanging out in the exterior pen in the sun. Haha. It's a weeeee bit chilly. Drake was a 3-legged dog this morning trying to take his pee while it was steaming. Ewwwwww

Some of Lou's family over for the day and for dinner tomorrow and my daughter will come up as well. Socializing is exhausting. Monday I'll be in hibernation haha. Trying to decide if it's lemon meringue pie, butter tart squares, Devils cake or strawberry shortcake for dessert tomorrow. Well, I suppose if that's my hardest decision of the day I can manage it.

Stay warm everyone, keep that fire going, pets safe from these temps and enjoy the cold but beautifully sunny day.

Brilliantly sunny here -27C outside -12 in the barn, I guess it could be worse.
Last year by this time we had 22 days of -20C or below that, so really we are in fine shape. ;)
Opened the pop doors but nobody rushed out, but every sunny spot in the barn was fully occupied.
One of the heated watering dishes had a crust of ice, the black rubber dishes I use for Wyandotte Roos were frozen solid with little geyser in the middle, must have frozen with a bang.
Have a warm one.

Nice morning for a polar bear here today, lots of sun, -27 and -41 with the windchill. But it is going to warm up, lol, to -24 this afternoon.

No snow so that works for me.
