Good Morning!
Last time I went gun hunting (many years ago), I hit him with a slug and friend hit it with buckshot. What a mess, I will stick with my bow LOL

Good Morning!
Great morning! The little injured splash pullet with the hole in her back just presented me with her very first egg! I think it's a good sign.

Good Morning!
A very good sign KB! yay!
well, got my permit yesterday. should make getting around easier for the shopping etc-at least i might actually be able to go because it will be less walking...i love living in the country. no line up at the service ontario office
in and out in less than 5 minutes.
kept the outside dog inside last night. will again tonight and tomorrow night. then her owners are back home
too cold out there for puppy paws on bare ground. so pulled out our extra dog crate and settled her in the front room for the night. she snores....lol. at least i knew she was safe and warm. and this morning at 5am, hubby chased a coyote out of the horse paddock....guess it might be time to set up on the back patio and wait for them in the early morning. lol. we go through this a couple times a year. both the horses are fine this morning, so that's good. i think they spent the night in the barn judging by the run in stall cleaning needed tonight....but brazen thing-right up almost to the hay feeder..that's only 30 yards from the house at the most. glad all the cats were inside last night too. no chickens out today. hopefully it will move on.
anyone have big plans for the weekend? not so much here....might finally buy the bookshelves i've been looking at for ages for the living room-now that the sofas are gone. seems like it might be colder this weekend, so probably won't be doing much that involves the garden or maple syrup LOL. need to get the sweet potato shoots planted...they're growing like mad. and maybe dabble in a bit more soap experimenting. got my pH paper in the mail yesterday, and seems the soap that i made just a week ago is already at pH 8, so it's already cooked! means i got the lye amounts right! i put too much palm oil into the last batch though, and they're grainy, so i need to tweak that a bit. and we may need to plow...maybe. possibly. maybe not.
hope everyone has a great day!

SO the more severely injured pullet with the bitten through tail bone didn't want to be left out so she laid an egg too!

Good Morning!
What a lovely morning. My Son brought me his boys at a little after 5 am. I babysit the kids for them :) The 5 yr old is upset, Mommy eat his Valentines for school today so he doesn't have anything to share with his class. Well we baked chocolate chip oatmeal cookies and made little paper hearts and made up little baggies of cookies with a paper heart attached to each one and voila, Valentines for the class. We had a blast and he was so happy, I got told I am "the best Grandma in the universe". Now the 15 month old and I are having left over spaghetti and cookies for breakfast. Not exactly how I plan to start the day, but I couldn't ask for anything better. I hope everyone stays warm and has a great day.

Good Morning!
Well winter is back here in full- had a nice even, light 3 or so inches this am then about 9 am the west wind picked up and is now vertical and forecast to get 15 cm or so and snow squalls off the lake. Had planned to go to town but that may be off for the day!
Chickens very happy to stay inside, but had a great week of really nice weather to enjoy. Got to love the County- really nice one minute then wicked the next!
Hope all are safe and warm today!

Good Morning!
its so cold out that my dog looks at me like im crazy for wanting her to go outside... im not complaining about the cold as I can finally get back to the bush for more fire wood. but my dog just dont want to go out.
last night i go to take her out for her bedtime pee... she wouldnt move. just slightly turned her head at me and i could feel her say... your a crazy man! well to get her moving i said well I guess you arnt going to find that squirrel then are you! haha she jumps up and starts running around the house checking every wall sniffing like crazy then wants outside to go find that squirrel! LOL oh did she ever get praised and I apologized for lying to her... although I never said there was in fact a squirrel...
well she looked around outside checked all the trees and couldnt find the squirrel, went pee and came back in, got a treat of leftover meatballs and went to bed....
good dog!
its predicted to drop to minus 30 today and over the next couple days... stay warm n stay safe!
