When I first saw the post Baron I thought it was your eye! and then my mind went "well here's Pug in your eye" sorry I can't help it.
Glad everything went well for the little guy/gal and that your eyes are fine...just can't see!

Well as of this am Mouse, Little Missie and the splash pullet are hanging in there and getting fractious about being kept in! I'm still bringing Mouse in to make sure she has a good feed because her poop isn't right yet but this am she already had a full crop, YAY. STill don't know if they'll make it but we'll keep trying.

Morning all! What a great morning-slept in. Didnt even hear hubby leave for work. Farrier is coming really late so a full day all mine! Warm water to the chicks in the barn. Horses fed. Going really well-then let our dog sitting dog out of the barn and were met IN the door by part kangaroo dog. Well dog sitting dog didnt appreciate kangaroo dog. Wee bit of spit snarl and person in the middle....hm. everyone settled right back down. Gotta go give some metacam to the cranky one....sigh. bad arthritis. I can understand being cranky some mornings lol. Nippy out (in more ways than one apparently) but the sun is gorgeous.

There are baby starlings in my barn. In feb. There is something wrong with that. And i almost have an entire tray of turkey eggs again....ready to put into the incubator. In feb.
Nice 3 cm of snow last night. Very pretty.
Hope all the recovering critters are doing okay this morning!!!
Have a great day.

Thanks to Joan for the 2 beautiful Black Ameraucana pullets she brought tonight. It's hubby's birthday and he was very taken with a Black Hen at OCs. Same bloodlines and nice Joan could make it happen!

oh KB, new birds!!! congrats and happy birthday to your hubby!

JimW....i have 3 toms: a red palm, a royal palm (wannabe) and a red slate. i have 3 jennys: a bronze/narry mix, a red palm and one that looks like a lavender palm-like a royal but not black on the patterning....so....all of them were running together until mid january. so these eggs could be fertilized by any of the 3 boys so i have, basically, no clue what to expect from them-i totally expect to visit the porter's turkey site and look them up if anything hatches (i have an awful time hatching turkeys). LOL. i have now split them up, and assuming they are like chickens, in a while i should be able to hatch out bronze/narry types, more red slates (from the bronze/narry and red slate pair), royal palms (not pure yet, more like royal palm-like and the lighter type palms from the palm pair) and pure red palms (that should be pure red palms...from the red palm pair). but i have no clue how long i have to wait until the girls are "fully under the influence of the single toms". LOL. so how's that for the worlds longest answer to an easy question?

Have you tried giving turkey eggs to your broodies? I did that last year, only 4 eggs per bird but it went great!

I had one little black hen... cover 6 turkey eggs, and she hatched every one. I have 19 turkey eggs on the turner upstairs... but don't REALLY want to incubate any yet. But... that being said, with the screwy weather, the seasonal turkeys are laying NOW, and probably won't be, when the real time comes. I just can't see them laying now, until June.. or so. Thats when they will take their break, and I won't have any babies.

Sigh. Don't know what to do.
