Good Morning!
Re: Good Morning!
Glad it's not just my chickens who are on strike! To be honest, it's only 2 infrequent layers, but it's disconcerting! Let's hope that the weather will cool down soon for all of us!

Re: Good Morning!
Are they going into an early moult, maybe @Ontario Chick ? I have one hen that's leaving all kinds of feathers in the run ATM.

Re: Good Morning!
Definitely a molt going on, the bedding seems to consist mainly of black feathers, also they are all elderly and might have just given up the good fight

Re: Good Morning!
My turkey hens are still going strong 4-5 eggs a day from 10 hens and 3 of those are broody. One is just starting to lay again!

Omg! My big girls, 8 of them, I get 1 every second day and that's it. Honestly! My Silkies and showgirls on the other hand are laying except for the 4 broody girls and my collextion of pullets. I got 2 eggs from my favorite paint pullet...she's 8 months..and that was it..2 eggs. Now it seems to be too hot for her. I love keeping chickens

My silkies are still laying but 3 have babies, 2 are broody with 4 more giving me signs they too are going broody. Ah well I'm not hatching anymore just selling the eggs. I'm done with looking after chicks this year.

Re: Good Morning!
My hens (ones not sitting or toting chicks) are mostly all on strike as well. It probably doesn't help that we're having Saharan temperatures, or that we've had some spectacular thunderstorms directly overhead.
And speaking of brooding, this summer most of my mother hens have been done with their chicks in less than four weeks. Mommas are so hot that they're booting the kids out early... trying to teach them to roost before they even have feathers!
I have to give a shout-out to @Killerbunny , who breeds some very sturdy (and remarkably well-behaved) Beltsville turkeys. While my chickens are on egg strike, the BSW turkey hens have suddenly decided that THE TIME IS NOW, and are suddenly cranking out eggs. In August. One wonders if they know something we don't

Re: Good Morning!
@windwalkingwolf you have me totally confused about the "well behaved" turkeys! Currently #87, Mumsy, is raising Mark 2 Hellbeasts. Mum is a Mark 1 Hellbeast and she has taught them to sit on the table, chairs etc. and generally be demanding. Tweeps stuck her head over the edge of the table a couple of days ago and grabbed Vians toast off the plate.

Perhaps it was just a misunderstanding and she thought you were serving it to her?
