That is my gsp too "a little retarded but we love him" 100%
Yeah we have a soft inflatable one but he still thinks its the end of the world. Although if we take his collar off its also the end of the world. He is a touch melodramatic

Tried a t shirt. He couldnt walk....lol even without reverse ge still got all tangled up ha ha

Good day everyone! Its been a long while since I posted!

Feel badly for you guys, WLLady and Admin... I know the work that was done in order to go away in the first place... and then having the plans rearranged. What do normal people do when they want to go away? If they have no kids/pets. Just pack and leave I guess, lol. Having a farm and lots of critters means MAJOR planning.... trips for extra feed... special people to leave your livelihood with, as well as notes/special instructions. Dogs and cats add to the misery.... Dogs have to be let out, and cats... well, if they dump their water, or hydro goes out.... blah blah blah... I'm sure most on here get the drift.

Been busy working on the pissy house on the hill. Got all the carpet out. Underlay was a pain... ripped out all hardwood flooring. Who in the world decided that putting all those nails into the subfloor below was a good idea? Millions. And the subfloor was a black pissed... gross... in spots. New down there too. Dry wall has been done in spots. I am NO genius when it comes to that... but now I have dust in all the cupboards I cleaned out, and moved all my dishes and stuff into when I leave here. Yay.

Got the floor in the living room all vacuumed and ceiling and drywall primed in there for the guy to come and 'swirl' the ceiling. Thought it may be today, but I haven't seen him yet. I think its someone with not much fire under their ass... and comes when he wants. I want to vacuum the walls down in the living room/hall/bedroom and wash them down, and paint before the new ash hardwood goes down. Its in.... hes going to hold it at the warehouse, until I'm ready for it. Then it will have to 'season' itself for a few days before we can start to lay it down.

I want it all done over the holidays!!

Went up there yesterday and the basement door from the garage was wide open, and the basement was as cold as outside. WTH?

Calves got weaned like always.... a cow that wouldn't get better from foot rot (3 treatments)... went out for hamburger two weeks from Monday coming. So, the hamburger freezer is cleaned out of a little older stuff thats left.. and she will go in there soon. Got some turkeys done for the freezer, but have one old freezerburnt one here from last year? Maybe longer than that, lol. Too bad. Its being the bird of the day here. I will also cook a ham if its too gross to eat. There are 18 of us this year! A new grand-baby due Jan 16 2018! I think Melissa will try and get pregnant again too, with #2

Dave and Jess had their baby girl on Oct. 7th... and Sawyer just loves her to death. But... hes just been diagnosed with hand/foot/mouth disease... and has severe tonsilitis. That kid STILL gets everything going. Gah! I won't even tell what he was just treated for a month ago. Germy kids!!

Well, I'm heading back up to wrap more presents. I've learned my lesson in trying to move 34 years of crap out of this house, MOST going to Value Village. Gift cards. Restaurant cards. Books for the kids. They can buy their own crap.

Have a great Christmas all!!

WLLady, too funny that loss of reverse gear seems to go with being retarded! I do remember putting a tee shirt on my previous lab (who was quite normal) and she was unable to walk at first, but then she figured it out.

Bayvista, you have SO much going on! Just reading it is quite tiring, but then I don't have a large family! It's difficult travelling with animals, but we don't leave our dogs behind, just the chickens, and I was quite sad when we dropped them off at winter camp..... We sent them a Christmas card, hee hee!

@WLLady , have you seen these?

The first one of this type on the market was the Procollar.
I actually had an oversized memory foam travel pillow (u-shaped) that I modified when we needed Aiden to stop licking his upper back leg until his allergy meds kicked in this past summer. It worked well, but mainly because he couldn't contort enough to get to his hotspot. If your dog can still reach his tail it probably won't work.

Hope your dog recovers quickly WLLady. Too bad about your trip. Bad timing. When my lab had leg surgery I put a cone on him and had to take it off immediately and lay down beside him to get him to stop hyperventilating. I thought he’d given himself a heart attack he was so worked up. However he reacted the same way the first time I put his dog tag on his collar and it jingled lol. Big boob.

What a wuss. Yeah i think anyone with animals knows the struggle of trying to take vacation. This dog is a contortion artist so only the super duper long cone seems to stop the chewing/licking/fussing....
Thanks everyone for listening to me rant on....
This too shall pass....

Oh but he's so ADORABLE! What a love bug! Guess he has you wrapped around his little dew claw :).

Healing thoughts headed his way.

@Jaye we have one of those blue ones....he can get out of it, chew the velcro off and if he does keep it on he can reach (somehow) right past it!! I think i have repaired the strap twice on it now maybe 3 times....definitely more humane than the "cone of fear!!!"
