And it was hot and clammy like today.

So we bought some rum and tequila with mojitos in mind.

Cheers.

Hi everyone!!
guess what?!
Its raining here again. Lol
i picked 3 super sized summer squash from the garden today....and saw green tomatoes on a couple of the romas. My watermelons are loving this temperature and water. So are the weeds....strawberries are small but delicious. But i need to get a commercial cultiver...theyre real small. But tasty. Still cant weed very well. I definitely see some raised beds in my future.
My broody mom had one brown chipmunk fuzzy (i hope a welsummer) poking out from under her and a wheaten ameraucana zipping...then she bit me so i let her be. I put a chick feeder and waterer in with her and kicked the rooster into another pen with some wheaten marans to stay out of the way. I may end up putting her into a dog crate in the center aisle and using the pen for the grow outs i want to keep. I have more in the incubator due tomorrow and very little room....need to get some kids gone. I emailed the one lady waiting on well started birds and the silence is deafening....oh well. If i hear nothing by tomorlw they will head off to the second person on the lis. Now its chore time and then physio....and fireworks tomorrow!!!! Happy birthday canada for tomorrow!!!
have a great evening everyone

Well happy Canada Day eve!!!

It has been a couple crazy busy weeks finishing up the school year, but my school had grade 12 graduation last night so at 8 pm I finished working for another school year and now time to relax!!! That was the end of my 15th year of teaching, only 13 years left and I can retire!!!

Tomorrow we have decided to be tourists and head into Ottawa to celebrate Canada Day (not my idea).

A small batch of shipped eggs hatching today, Bielefelders and Cuckoo Malines, from Alberta, hopefully at least a few hatch.

My white rock meat chicks from Mill Pond are 2 weeks old and doing great, 1 died at about 3 days old, but the other 25 are doing great. I am limiting their food somewhat, filling up feeders once a day and letting it run out in the evening. I plan to move them into a chicken tractor in 2 more weeks.

My first poultry road trip of the summer is planned for next Thursday heading to Cirrus Hill Farm to pick up some more Beltsville White Turkeys for breeding stock, I am setting up 2 breeding groups next year, one of each bloodline. Also hoping to pick up some BC Marans hatching eggs from Bulbs of Fire during my trip.

I hope everyone has a good Canada Day weekend!!

Well yesterday evening around 8 just after the stores closed a pipe decided to give out behind a bulkhead! Fortunately we noticed so not a total horror. The copper had a pinhole in it. Emergency repair for the moment until Sunday. Of course right over the new laminate floor we installed at Xmas.
Poults went right into the main coop last night with no deafening wails!

Happy Canada Day,

Its humid here. Not too hot but the humidity sure makes up for it!!! I hope it clearsn up for fireworks!!!!
Okay. I have a chicken problem.
I have full brooders and more hatching. I hate doing staggered hatches. Gotta get organized and get the new girls in, old girls out and process some of these obnoxious boys!!!! At least the ones in the brooderare only 1 week old...so i can probably put the new ones with them.

Did you all see the store??!! Yay!
Hope everyone has a fantastic canada day!

Yup! Happy Canada Day! Now that I'm older, Canada day is more of a thanksgiving day for me. When I see what is going on in the rest of the world, I think "whew" I hit the jackpot when it comes to the country I live in!

I'm there with ya Skinnyroo, except at the Parliament buildings (est 500,000 people there! No thanks man!)

We are gonna head across the river to get some Quebec beer (maudite, fin du monde, Blanche du Chambly) and that's far enough for us today.

And a happy one to you all!

Oh crap, its mid-year and my to do list ain't looking good. It looks like i'll have to have a beer while splitting firewood before the tractor gets repurposed to hay jobs.
