Good Morning/evening!Ontario Chick wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2017 8:56 amGood morning,
Where is everybody?
I know there is grass to cut and garden to weed and chickens to watch and Canada Day beer to buy and turkey to deep fry, but seriously we need to hear from YOU to know all is well in the poultry world :)
I, personally, have been working, and very little of it has been on the lawn, garden, or chickens

I think I can almost officially call my garden a wash for this year. All my started plants are still sitting in their pots, because it won't stop pizzling long enough to even get the ground turned over. It should have been done in April, while we had a bit of a dry spell, but it wasn't because we had lots of time

a new addition to Canadian anthem ?Killerbunny wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2017 9:16 amDon't want to offend but I'm changing the words to All Things Bright & Beautiful
He sends the snow in winter
The warmth to swell the grain
The breezes and the sunshine
And YET MORE P**ssing rain!
When is it all going to stop???
Hail again here, that's two times in four days .... my garden was planted but just like Jan I think it's not happening, haven't seen so many seriously unhappy plants in all my years of gardening.
There simply isn't enough heat so the steady influx of water isn't really helping.
All the gourd / pumpkin leaves look like somebody has been using them for target practice pretty much shredded , and the carrots are now prostrate flat on the ground.
Had a rainbow on the front lawn today, perhaps I should just start digging?

Re: Good Morning!
morning all! we had beautiful rainbows a couple days ago, hovering close to our mailbox. i found no gold...or silver....or leprechauns (which is probably good because i'm already trying to evict ants and mice from the house....don't want to deal with leprechauns too!).
lots of rain again already this morning. at least my grass is green and the horses are eating it so i'm feeding less hay. the manure is so much nicer on wet grass than dry hay. but at this rate i have no clue if i'll be able to get first cut DRY hay!!!!!
hopefully we have nice weather for the fireworks on saturday! i think we are going to either pull up our lawn chairs and watch both the glencoe and west lorne shows from home, or maybe even travel to glencoe and watch them up close and personal LOL. not sure. we can just see them from our patio, but we can't hear them....hm.....and the ones in glencoe are usually by donation....and usually pretty decent.
and probably a bigger party this year since it's 150. although technically the ground that is now called canada has been around a LOT longer than that LOL. but hey, free cake, free ice cream and by donation fireworks. definitely worth it.
back to work full time is nice too. super silly busy. things are finally moving forward again....and i feel like i'm not scrambling as much to get up to date. good to be back. my insurance company was amazing in doing a back to work program. it was tough, but doable! i was doubtful, but it wasn't bad at all, there was just one week, going from 4 hours a day to 5 hours a day that was tougher, because that meant 5.5 hours, between having lunch and working, but it went great! yay!
just over a month until the second annual piknik! whoohoo! we need to get people all signed up.....August 5-6. we have room for trailers, tents, there's a nice b&b in glencoe, we are easy driving distance to chatham and london (i know, i do the london trip ALL the time!). we have a reservation not far from us with awesomely inexpensive gas-i just tanked up this morning for 88.2 cents a liter! we are hoping to have all kinds of fun stuff there too! (and i'm not telling.....) ha ha
hope everyone has a great day, and a wonderful canada day holiday weekend!
