Hi Folks!
did everyone notice the canada 150 leaf? Martin (poultry_admin) wrote through to the canadian government to ask permission to use it on our site for the coming canada day festivities and they said YES! whoohoo! we are after all a canadian board! it looks great up there, thank you poultry_admin! great idea!
beautiful morning. although, i have to admit we left ALL the windows open last night and i actually woke up freezing cold! LOL. oh well. it's going to get warmer......hubby is off to chase our cropshare farmer and see what's up with not getting our place planted yet. i am sure it will be beans....but they need to get in soon! looks like the weekend is going to be warm and dry, so maybe things will get moving. the first cut hay is just being cut the last day or so here. looks like summer is here!

Good morning!
It is a beautiful morning and a very attractive maple leaf, thank you poultry Admin!
Woke up at 5 am to a woodpecker drumming on the metal roof of the barn, starting a riot in the barn and continued non stop until 7 am. The chickens went back to sleep but us not so much. I am pretty sure its illegal to strangle a woodpecker, but I was entertaining the thought seriously.
Veggies are in full swing everything is up even parsnip which tends to be pretty parsnipety
Window cleaners coming this morning, one deference to old age at this place and I am off to try to push back the burgeoning nature i.e. Lilly of the Valley and Blue bells that are threatening to take over this place.
Noticed that some grassy areas that sat under water for a long time are not coming back, not a good look.
My walking buddy this morning... the look.. You are not staying here are you?

true, haven't thought of it that way, I think she may have a young one around here, she actually never leaves just doubles back and follows me out of the bush, to make sure I have left, not bothered by the dog either.

Good morning! And a lovely Friday it is!
Our 3 1/2 week old turkeys are acting like they could be put out into the pen already. Boy they grow fast.
Haven't seen our parsnips come up yet.

Re: Good Morning!
Good morning! Its a nice nice nice day!!
I really should be out planting. I have only planted 15 hot pepper plants so far. I have tons more peppers and all my tomatoes, and all my geraniums and all my petunia's..... barrel planters (some are cleaned out), but need fresh dirt... mixed with that miracle grow dirt I got from Costco. Cheapest I got it was $8 a bag on sale!! I also need to plant my begonia's... and they are fairly rotten.. bought them ages ago to put where the tulips are... they are just dead enough to pull now and stick them in. Ugh. Such a late year.
We are NOT done planting soybeans yet, have 35 acres left, in a wet wet wet field next door, STILL standing water in it. Jeremy was out and lightly cultivated it to help it dry some. This HOT dry wind we are having will help that along!! Hopefully today. You could still see patches of green where the cultivator didn't go thru.. and some tire ruts. Unbelieveable.
We have 100 acres of hay to dip into yet... and the June grass is FREAKING awesome!!!!!!!!!!! EVERYBODY has it now, BAD. That stuff turns yellow in the hay.. is nearly ripe, and so cutting/raking will just keep reseeding, reseeding, reseeding. Terrible stuff. We have done crop rotation on that ground, and so it has been sprayed... two years in a row... but it just prevails. Likely another Asian pest.
My red palm turkey girl hatched out 3 eggs from WLLady.. and then a week later got off them. WTH??????????????? Some mother of the year. I saw her up on her perch all day... which is fine, (this was last week.. still chilly), but at night she was still up there, and they were calling calling. Stupid girl.
So... shes pissed because they are now living with the guinea's I hatched out a week ago. Dumb.
Took some guinea eggs to Hagersville Friday and a young roo. Colleen took a couple hens. We went the week before, me with young roosters... and I obviously missed one. Looked so much like a girl.... until it was out all night (outside the pen), and when I threw it in, it squawked like a roo... and then ran over to the feed and pretended to do that rooster call, like ... here is some food guys!! I am thinking there may be even MORE in there. So... out of 17, I will be left with 6 girls. Must be incubator related... too hot... because out of the hatch WLLADY did for me, MOST are girls!!!!!!!! out of the 20 something.
I have so many guinea eggs... I am saving more to take to Hagersville.. after seeing how the ones I took did. Kijiji is a waste of breath. You get these A S S holes that are all excited... waste your time.... and then say something stupid like... can you drop off? or yes, I still have them.... and then you never hear from them again.
I have 3 incubators full of them... and will try and take keets next time.
Well, I'd better go deliver Melissa's vehicle. Her hubby's sister got married yesterday, and I babysat Mason ALL Day practically. Dave took me over to the wedding site to get her vehicle and Mason.. he was the ring bearer for a couple hours over there... and they got a limo home, lol. I drove their car here. Shes whining now, because they have NO vehicle there at all... his is over at his parents. They were ALL in the wedding yesterday.
Then I plant, and move dirt!! Yay!
Have a good Sunday!
Oh... heres a picture some artist iron welding guy had drawn of Gary after he visited the farm. Hes building some barn out of steel or something. It looks just like Gary, for those of you who know him.
And the artist himself.
