One teeny tiny black duccle popped out already which really surprised me. They are eggs from my brother's chickens and I thought they were all mille fleur but now I remember a tiny little black one giving me the stink eye in their brooder last year.

Re: Good Morning!
morning all! WOW rain the last couple of days! and yesterday i got home, and there was a wild turkey strutting about 10 feet away from my penned turkeys! a HUGE tom. LOL. he scooted into the woods when he saw me....lol. probably trying to entice my one girl away that isn't sitting. too funny!
martin didn't need to go to the woods to hunt, he could have waited in the barn! nice to get the water, but i really don't need to swim in my front lawn!
looking forward to wyoming sale! looks like i have a couple leads on light brown leghorns (i want some white layers for the cartons).
hope everyone has a great day!

Re: Good Morning!
thats to funny Kathy! I see Martin extended an invitation for me to come try my luck on turkeys at your place, maybe I'll come sit in your barn!
thanks for the invite guys and I'm more than likely guna come out and give er a go!
about those white egg laying leghorns... I have a few blacks and light browns. they stick together and I would be quite suprised if a leghorn hen let a different breed of rooster breed her. these birds are my best free rangers, they are all over the place and I havent lost any of these guys to predators. so although I havent seperated them yet I bet there eggs would be pure leghorn just maybe not light brown or black specifically. oh yeah there is one rooster accepted into the leghorn circle... the beautiful blue weaten ameraucana rooster runs with them but I've never seen him breed. so I could collect some eggs and put them in the incubator right asap if you want but I'll also set up a breeding pen because I want some more light browns.
have a great day all!!!

Re: Good Morning!
Good morning, sort of,
Dark cold and wet here, grass is growing, leaf buds are opening and best of all, the salad greens planted a week ago are sprouting happily, so will be able to completely ignore the $3;99 head of pathetic looking lettuce in the grocery store, not that I wasn't ignoring it before
The patio furniture is out and just as soon as I can put away my winter coat I am planning to sit on it.
Might have jumped a gun a bit by purchasing a new patio umbrella, so this all may be my fault.
Have a dry one!

Re: Good Morning!
It's one of those sun half out mornings here and still chilly but I'll take it in place of rain. I peeked at the forecast for Sunday because I've been debating attending Burls Creek Fur and feather....possible flurries in the forecast!
My big girl eggs are pipped now and in the process of hatching. I scooped all the banties out at 3am this morning since it had been 30 hours since the first one hatched and none of the remaining eggs were pipped yet. If I do a mixed hatch again I think I will put the banty eggs in a day after the others. These little guys are ADORABLE! They are leaving to go home tonight but I think I have to get more eggs from them to have some of my own. They all hatched black or black/white.
