FIRST ANNUAL PTO PIKNIK WEEKEND-JULY 23!!!!

Post by WLLady » Wed Jun 22, 2016 3:23 pm

Hi folks,
unfortunately hubby and I just can't make it-what with holiday shut downs with his work, and we can't get house sitters for the 23rd, and hubby needs to work the following week so heading up that day wouldnt work we wouldn't get back to work on time for him! We thought about heading out the week before and dropping on in our way back, but our house sitters are away for that week...so. um. But we will be headed through a couple weeks before then, and since i have stuff to give people that are going we will stop by Jan's on the way up (if that's okay) and drop things off. That way they can be received the day of.

Well, that really sucks. I'm sure I speak for all those planning to attend when I say that we were really looking forward to meeting/seeing you and Martin. But we understand that it just can't happen this year, given all the stuff you have to juggle.

Hubby here. I agree it sucks!

But it just doesn't work. We find solutions to a lot of things, but this one was just not possible.

So, I have one request to all: Please take lots of pictures and post them all!! It's always nice to put faces to names.

And I hope you all have a great time!

Sorry that Sandy, Kathy and Martin aren't coming. I was looking forward to meeting Sandy and having a genetics chat with Kathy. Maybe next year it will be out your way.

Do we have a final count of people coming and food list? I can bring more food if I know what's needed.

I can't commit to a dish yet as I am still not 100% if I am coming, long way to drive back and forth in a day. If I do come I will bring some eats for sure :lunch:

4 weeks or so to go!! Bummer that we're missing out on meeting so many wonderful chicken folk, but I certainly understand the busy-ness of the season. No final count yet, not very many have filled out the form, total official tally according to the form (not including myself and Sandy, who cannot come) is a whopping five people. Now, I know there are more people coming than that, that just haven't filled out the form, and many people simply haven't decided yet, and I'm sure that more than a few have missed the memo as well.
SO, if you're just reading about the PikNik now, and wondering wth it's all about; a bunch of us crazy chicken folk want to put faces to names, talk turkey, and eat good food while we're at it. PTO is having a potluck BBQ for poultry lovers old and new, and hope to make it an annual event. This year I volunteered to host, and I live near Frankville, Ontario. If you think this sounds like fun, please fill out the form here: form If you'd like to bring a dish to share and need ideas, check out the list of what's already coming here : spreadsheet .
It's a perfect opportunity to buy/sell/trade with people who live too far from you to normally go (it's much easier when the trip is dual-purpose), we have lots of accommodations for people who have a long way to drive and will need to rest up before the return trip!. If you can't get a ride for whatever reason, post here or post a wanted ad, there will be people who can car pool. Hope to see you there!

I really suck at filling out forms...i suppose its my innate sense of rebellion towards serious organization but i'll be there..i just got done enumerating and followups on the census and my taxes are paperwork enough...pls don't take it as a slight that i haven't done the online thing...might never knowing me :running-chicken:

poultry_admin wrote:QR_BBPOST Hello All,
I think it's good to go public now.

Can everyone coming please fill out the form to the best of their knowledge?

Since it's still a month out, things might change with your plan. If so, please just fill it out and submit again.

Thanks!

If you are interested in what people are bringing to make sure there is no duplication, have a look at this spreadsheet.
Bump my own so people can find the forms again...
