WLL, Momma Maremma is about 80 lbs and Poppa Pyrenees is about 110 lbs. We had a litter of 1 from them late last summer and that puppy has been named Chunk. At 7 months old, she is bigger than her Mom already.

Jojo has the mask and Chunk is all white.

Also got a poor photo of a neat Canada goose at work this morning. She has a patch of white feathers on the crown of her noggin. I tried for quite a while to get a better shot, but she wouldn't get close or still enough for me. The patch is about the size of a loonie.

Well I'm not having much luck with chicks this year
First batch of 69 eggs. 8 fertile. Only 4 hatched. One was iffy whether it would even make it. Could stand just would lay on side kicking feet

Finally taped legs together and wrapped snugly in paper towel and set it upright
Kept in incubator extra day and kept giving tiny bits of sugar water
It made it!

Gave all 4 chicks to my little broody banty "mommason". One of the first chicks to hatch died 2 days later. Looked like it just fell asleep in the nest

2nd batch to incubator was 41 eggs
27 of mine 14 from BVF
Only 5 of mine are fertile in day 8
9 for sure of BVF fertile. Some are green eggs so I'm not sure. A few clear and one quitter

So I'm baffled. This time I put Earl in with4 hens at a time for 2 days. Still veeeeerrrry low fertility
Poor Earl. Not sure what happened to him!!

Pic of 3 live chicks outside for first day today
Which are roosters and hens? Anyone care to take a guess

Parted out the Jake today and roasted the carcass off to make stock. House smells amazing with the stock pot bubbling on the stove now!

Just taking the meat off the bones and I noticed his neck was almost as thick as my wrist! Wow!

Mmmm kb sounds yummy!!!! Colleen sounds like you need a new boy. Might be shooting blanks. Those chicks are very well camoflagued!!! I couldnt find them lol

More pips in the incubator this morning-next chicken chicks. Then locking down turkeys again soon.

Another gorgeous day. Going to do lots of walking and a little gardening. Heard the calufornia lettuce crop took a major hit this year so going to plants lots!! Got dirt yesterday so i can keep planting today!!! Yay!!! Had a wee bonfire again last night. We got tired and burnt it downand came in-we must be getting old. Ready for bed at 945. Lol

Colleen I'm horrible at the guessing game but I will always still try lol. I think the middle pic looks roo-ish. That last one with the brown face is a real cutie!!! I have a second batch of eggs on day 4 today so will see if I'm anymore successful with fertilization. Earl and Harley just may find themselves unemployed and homeless lol.
Finally have my humidity figured out I think...Had to move my incubator to a different room and its staying much more stable. I also tossed a remote temp/humidity gauge inside that I'm loving because I'm lazy lol. The home unit sits on an end table in the living room and has memory for 3 highest/lowest readings each 24 hours and a programmable alarm for min/max temp. Just saves me running up and down stairs a bizzillion times a day since I'm still not confident in just leaving it. And bonus is I can toss a remote into the coop in winter to keep a closer eye out there.
