Good Morning!

Post by Home Grown Poultry » Thu Apr 06, 2017 7:25 pm

Were having a massive blizzard at the moment. Snowing n blowing like crazy. All the puddles have massive waves. Mother Nature is mad! The wind is coming from the north so hopefully if it pushes another tree down it misses the house.

Have a good n safe night all!

It sure is a blustery morning. Still!! The wind is fierce anymore. Snow drifts in the lane. Ice all over my bus/door/windshield. Had to come back inside for hot water to get the washer fluid knobs flowing. I sure hope there are NOT too many more days like this. It was freezing drizzle when I left the lane. Just seems to be blowing now.

Tomorrow may be a road trip to Kathy's to get my wee babes she hatched for me!! That means today, I will have to get a pen ready for the ones in the brooder. There is a weeks difference between two groups in there... the older group has wing feathers already. Hopefully they will be fine in the middle room of the farrowing barn, with a heat lamp. There are also 5 poults in there with them. They've all been eating turkey starter, so I will need to move those turkeys out sometime.

I've been battling a bad cold... my doctor says.. Walking pnemonia.. sounds weird.... on the last day of drugs.. but chest still feels tight/sore. Been coughing up my lungs so bad, my stomach hurts just as bad. I am DONE with this crap.

Going to the Lawyers this afternoon... no clue other than changing the power of Attorney. How to be fair with this family heritage farm.... plan is to eventually sell it to Jeremy, Gary's oldest... but with so much owing on the property still from mortgaging....how do we sell if cheap enough for it to continue in the family..... pay the mortgage.. and have enough to live on until the end? To the 3 other kids.... to sell him a 3 million dollar property.. maybe more due to where the farm is situated... (last farm property heading out of town).... for next to nothing... and then what. All it would take is a divorce with HIM and his wife... (not saying it will happen.. but poop happens).. and the 3 others get nothing, and they walk away millionaires? Hmmm. Right now I think that we will set it up if we kick together, the oldest two can power it... and they can hash it all out. Would be the easiest solution right now, lol.

Hate having to make life decisions really. A necessary evil.

Morning everyone!! Wow. Snowy blowy and white....melting though. Rumbling as it falls off the roof. Physio day today. Hopefull he can put me back together. One of my exercises went very not well yesterday....sigh. may just be a bit too early for it.

Molly ha arthritis...in her stifle and hock. Sigh. Guess its retirement time for the horses. They are getting up there in age...and due for retirement anyways. Just hate to see her stiff like me. Feel so bad for her. Farrier and vet said to give her some bute the morning before getting trimmed and if shes sore in the field. The weather changes seem to get her too.

I survived my first week back to work!! Whoohoo!!!
So nice to see people again and actually have real conversations. And feel like i am doing something meaningful!

Hope the snow melts soon. Bvf i dont envy you the whole estate planning thing. Good luck with it!!! And your chicks are popping like crazy since last night! The incubator has been cheeping all night. Lol. Love that sound. And the 3 little day old red sex links are doing great...they will be going to their new home this weekend too.

Have a good one....stay warm....

Good morning,
Still raining here, water running across end of driveway, the ditches are full, haven't seen that in a few years. Arthritis seriously unhappy about this weather.
Dog woke us up at 6 am there was a giant raccoon fishing in the lake that is our backyard , it was size of a small bear.
Got an upgrade for my laptop from 10.6 to 10.11, which makes it completely different (and not better) computer. From iPhoto which was lovely to Photo which is complete crap.
All sorts of completely useless geegaws, and I can live happily without ever hearing from Siri again. :sAng_compy:
My rant for the day,
Hope you all get thru this season change without major damage.

BVF, Farm Credit Canada did a course on "transferring farm property to the next generation" and there is a way around the divorce issue as part of sale/inheritance. I have a workbook somewhere....
