Blackie Wackie hatched five yesterday. Eggs I got from the neighbor, red cross hatchery hens with a brown leghorn roo. Does the black dot on top of the head maybe tell sex? Baby goats doing just fine. Way more milk than I need, making cheese this morning with chopped chive flowers and walking onions in it. Hope it turns out good. Garden doing OK for lots of stuff, eating fresh salads I really like. Dill not quite big enough yet for salads, but soon. Cath home from her mom's since Thursday, sure glad to have her back.

Feast or famine. Either you are out or you have too much. Eggs. No problem, lots of takers for extras. Goats milk. I was short or out for so long. Sold Cleo's babies at two months old. Right about the time Cinco had her twins. I milk Cleo twice a day, and Cinco once. Getting about 6 L a day. Made cheese yesterday morning. 8 L gives me about 2 lbs cheesre, and its good stuff. But this morning, I have close to enough t make another batch. And teh fresh cheese (queso fresco) I make is only good for about ten days, so no storing for months. And they will get the milk police on me if I try to sell. I dont want to start feeding perfectly good milk to the chickens. Anyone got any ideas?

@Farrier1987 , you could make longer storage cheeses. Feta would be a good choice, it’s simple to make and can be stored in containers in a cool cellar for a year or more. I can write up a recipe and post it. The cultures and rennet are easy to get online.

Good day eh! Yeah it was gonna happen. I got started again, got some bantam cochin chicks and a few standard mutts. We needed some food recyclers, and I understand cochins are almost as broody as silkies. If I get things built properly I'll get some pheasants as well.

Moving slow though, buggered my knee (again) in March and had ups and downs in the healing - physio is all closed or I'd have been up faster.

Our big dog Duchess - 10 year old doberman mix, died (suspect heart attack) running with me with the atv. She went out at full throttle. Now we'll need another big dog. Thinking German Shepherd mix this time.

RIP Duchess.
@baronrenfrew ,maybe you could check with your physiotherapist to see if they are taking clients again ... DH has been going to his physio for a couple of weeks now. Masks are mandatory, hand sanitizer before and after, but they are open for business nonetheless.
@Brebis , looking forward to that feta cheese recipe. ;-)

Cool morning again. We need some heat to make things grow, and an inch of rain wouldndt go amiss. But the people putting up hay should be happy, bright sun and low humidity and breezes with no rain should make good hay.

The wonderful one at her mothers, should be back today. Going to disbud some little goats this morning, not pleasant but necessary. Getting lots of milk, but able to sell a little. Its great to have the girls (and the chickens) pay for their own feed.

Blackie Wackie's chicks are a week old, doing just great, She marches them around and all 5 healthy and active.

Ranger got out yesterday, I didnt know it and was in the garden when he came by outside carrying something in his mouth. The mighty hunter caught a groundhog. Worked at it all day, either chewing on it or just laying beside it and growling at the chickens. He is very proud. Didnt want any supper.
