Good Morning! <=2017
Good Morning!
Really like the new banner.
Crappy stop to the morning, still a little under the weather, lots of exams to mark and report cards to complete. My wife is doing some laundry hear a weird noise with the front load washer, run down stair, water pouring everywhere!!!!
Spent the last hour mopping up and moving storage shelves, luckily just concrete floor and water never made it to any wall, plus the dirty towels were the next load to go i, so lots of dirty towels to soak up the water.
Well back to marking for awhile, looks like my marking breaks today will be seeing what is wrong with the washer.
Have a good one.

Good Morning!
Good morning!
Nothing like spewing washing machine to start your day
Will eventually have to bite the bullet here and replace the 35year old Mytag, watched a bit on the consumer report last night on a Samsung washer disassembling itself while washing, I guess that one is of the list...
Snowing here yet again, there seems to be some snowfall pretty much every day.
Avalanche ready to come of the roof off the barn, starting to look a bit ominous.

Good Morning!
that sucks Jim!!! OC, That 35 year old maytag is easy to fix. when they break almost every part that is common to failure is about a $35 part and not to bad to fix. I would keep it. I turned an old maytag into my plucker and it was extremely hard to completely disassemble, the entire time I was thinking I made a big mistake! but the new one we got is made of plastic and wouldnt have worked as a plucker. the inside of an old machine is built like a tank, the new ones not so much.
we had use of a set of front loading samsung washer n dryer at the old place. we never had a problem with the washer but the heating element went on the dryer and it was less than 2 years old. a $120 part and a pita to fix but gotter done.
the ground is freezing back up here finally but hardly any snow at all on the ground. winter is coming back! WOOOHOOOO!

Good Morning!
I bought Samsung dishwasher, fridge and stove brand new about 4 years ago. We had a repairman in for the dishwasher before it was a year old. I watched what he did thankfully because I've had to do it twice since and saved myself the bill. The fridge froze up in the back compartment and then melted into both crispers effectively ruining all of your produce because it is wet constantly (Samsung was well aware of what was causing this but refused to do anything about this design flaw that they built into thousands of their french door fridges) My friend GOOGLE finally gave us a do it yourself step by step fix that cost about $1 and took 1 minute once it was thawed out. I've never used a Samsung washer/dryer but that company will not get another cent from me. Customer service is what happens (or doesn't) once the customer has a problem.

Good Morning!
we had a kitchen aid stove that locked itself into a self cleaning mode then blew the glass door out and all over the kitchen... CRAZY! no one pushed the button at all! went to google and found many people who experienced that problem. it didnt shut off and required me to turn off the breaker, wait for it to cool down then unplug it and take it to the scrap yard. my MIL was furious cuz she bought it and it wasnt that old. I was furious cuz could you imagine what could have happened if we wernt home or sleeping? we just heard an explosion while sitting in the living room. sometimes to much tech in what should be simple appliances is not a good thing at all, same with vehicles, to much can go wrong.
our Samsung big screen tv wont shut off sometimes when its on a different source. you turn it off and it turns right back on. I figured out if I turn it to tv it works fine. I googled this problem and found many other owners with even worse going on with their TV. so I feel lucky and can live with it. sure makes me mad though to spend so much on a tv to have it crap out on us after 2 years. seems like everything has a 2 year lifespan now a days.
I however have learned to check reviews on everything before purchasing and dont buy it if its brand new to the market.

Good Morning!
Don't get me started on major appliances..sales promise the moon...don't deliver...no service period from the retailer...overpriced service once the unit is past warranty (usually one year which is a joke on something that should be reliable as hell) ...and corporations turning a blind eye to known design flaws...leaving the customer holding the bag...grrrrrr....our government has dropped the ball in so many ways protecting the consumer, but the one major way ( and this goes thru many disciplines) is in allowing companies buying other companies out thereby eliminating the cornerstone of competition which is the ultimate protection for the consumer which is choice...it doesn't matter how many brands are in the market if they are all owned and controlled by one or two multinational behemoths that do NOT give a rat's patuti about the consumer...we are left with no real choice....and you thought your government was on your side....ppffffftttt!!!

Good morning!
So I used the fact that you guys sleep in on Sundays and move the board to pto.ca. Well, at least halve of it. All files are over, the database will have to wait for a bit yet.
Update your bookmark to pto.ca either by "right clicking" or using the "long tab" to get to the edit menu. You can also make a new bookmark and delete the old one.
If you do nothing, for the next while you will get here directly. I will then add a nag page to prompt you to update the bookmarks. And as mentioned before, our long url "poultrytalkontario.net" won't work anymore in the late fall of 2017.

Good Morning!
Good morning everyone!!! We might get some sun down here today! There is blue sky just west of my farm!!! For the first time in about 20 days!!!
Not much new here. Healing takes a long long time. Still doing lots of walking. Up to 5km a day now but it is getting terribly boring on the treadmill. Nerves still waking up are kinda unpleasant. Helped a few times with chores...snow outside is a bit of a challenge for walking outside. Looks like i might get some visitors tomorrow!!! I hope the weather holds for that!! Chickens are starting to pick up on the laying. Days are getting longer now!! Yay!!! That means spring is on the way!! I also heard yesterday that one of our local farmers is getting into maple syrup in a big way so we can get it just down the road now!!! Yay!!! I would so rather buy local....and i wont be making any here for a year or two!!
Nice to see all the ads popping up for chicks and eggs and chickens. Another sure sign that spring is coming!!!
Looks like mugs and tshirts win the poll.....i think i found 18oz mugs somewhere. Will keep everyone posted on what we decide to do...thanks for voting.
Oh dont forget to vote for the picture of the month!! And submit your enteries to marchs pic of the month. Submissions are through the photo contest forum now.

Good Morning!
So Kathy. Coming to see you today. Will bring a getwell present or two. A jar of home made jam, to eat. And to cheer you up and give you something to do, I will allow you to keep Gruff Goat for a while. The girls don't need him right now, and he has such perfume and reasonably well behaved as goats go. Oh, don't turn your back on him. He can be over amorous. And as you get attached to him, we will not need to come back to our place til next fall. He will bring you joy during your trying times. See you in a while.

Good Morning!
This is a warning to anyone going to Shirley's
Where do I start?
Some of you know Shirley only from her posts here. Others have actually met with her
I am one who has met and built a great friendship with her
As most of the regulars on PTO know I don't post much personal stuff about my day to day activities
BUT, I need to warn all of you poor innocent people who have not had the pleasure of the question Shirley asks me
"Hey, Do you want to bring the dog out and go for a walk?
To most - Just an innocent question right?
Noooooooo
I had a funny feeling about the walk before today
I told her I'm not in as good shape as her
And she just laughed. We went up a few hills that my poor dog could hardly go up
The dogs zigzagged up. I've never seen hills in a bush so straight up!!! So up the hill we go
Phew I made it. Pretty proud of myself too
Then to my surprise at the top of the hill is a drop as steep or stepper than the one we just climbed!!! I ended up sliding half the way catching a tree on the way down. Where's Shirley you ask? Already at the bottom killing herself laughing. I asked her then if she was trying to kill me
On to today's adventure. We drive quad back to cabin and left from there. Was a good workout of a walk which I loved. Silently to myself I'm thinking. Where's the hill she's taking up and back down today. Sure enough she didn't disappoint me. There it was. Worse that the previous walk. With the same creek at the bottom of the hill Well today I wore waterproof boots. So I did ok there. Still out of breath though
Then she says I'd like to take you over to show you the waterfalls. So off we go in the quad (thank god she didn't make we walk there)
We walk down a bit of a grade to the falls. Absolutely beautiful!!!
Got a few pics
Then she tells me about this culvert so big you can walk thru it. This should have been my first warning signal
Off we go to the culvert
"Wanna walk through it" she says. No I don't think so I say. She starts walking thru. Dogs way ahead of us Walk on the bolts she told me. That wAy you won't slip and you can stay out of the water. Oh by the way did I mention how cold it was outside this morning?
We get about 3/4 the way down the tunnel and I'm still not sure why or how I got ahead of her. Should have been another warning signal
Yep water is over my boots. Soaking wet half way up my calves!!!! She's again killing herself laughing. I get to the end thinking "I think she really is trying to kill me back here where no one in there right mind would go looking for a body!"
There at the end is my dog soaking wet rolling in snow ahead trying to dry off. Poor Holley fell into a hole in the water (head up) stuck in the water. Don't get excited here-she wasn't in any danger! Shirley has to kneel down and pull her out by scruff of neck back into tunnel
I call Lacy to come back in. She looks at me as if to say no frickin way am I going back into that tunnel. Poor pup. I finally got her in and back we went in the tunnel. All 4 of us soaked to the arse and more.
Then back up yet another hill to the quad
Oh. But at the top of this hill she is standing there looking back at me asking how I'm making out
I have never been so glad to see their barn and house as we turned the last corner
Anyway I did live to tell this story. PLEASE. Before any of you go for a "walk" at Shirley's make sure you have just received a clean bill of health from your doctor!!!
Oh yeah and maybe take out a life insurance policy for your loved ones
