thegawd wrote:QR_BBPOST Cool stuff Jim! I've never heard of the Whiting True Blue chickens so I had to look them up. they were developed by poultry geneticist Dr. Tom Whiting and not for the same reasons most chickens are but rather for there feathers for tieing flys for fishing.

they lay lots of big bright blue eggs! they sound very productive, I wonder how big they are and how well they dress out. I bet he created them so that the hens laid those bright blue eggs and the cockerals were turned into flys, they have to dress out decent, I cant imagine the meat being wasted. hmmm
From what I can figure they have leghorn background so I don't think they will be very big, but we will see, I just ordered 8, to see what they are like but expect they might already be sold out and may not get them.

Gotcha Ross. we would sure like to get some more pigeons off of ya when and if you have some available. better wait though and see what happens with this virus just to be safe. plus Im building a bigger pigeon coop.

pouring rain here, complete with thunder n lightening, Jan 11 2017 and its 9ºC outside.

they sound interesting Jim, I hope you get them and the birds you need!

Have a good night all!

We're looking at going to Germany in June for a wedding. So any breeding I do must be done early season or late so its easy to manage for whoever holds the fort down.
Jim, glad to see you haven't changed. :farmer:

Ozzy didn't make the cut along with the partridge chantecler cross. The girls preferred the light brahma cross boy who is pretty laid back and who am to deny them?! Chunky, the Blue Columbian Wyandotte, is getting beautifully filled in now and the 2 little pullets in with him are princesses!

So let me guess, my years of experience combined with hours of research and weeks of observation, led me yet again, to hand over the better cockerel to you? ;)

Er - yes? But I picked him at 10 days remember. You probably felt sorry/guilty for my loss of Lucky and I appealed to your softer side LOL! You are also a warm and wonderful person.

Oh Kathy I hear you on the eating. I get dexamethasone with my treatment and now have the constant munchies (not for anything else I'm using LOL). I've never been like that but I almost can't control it.
