Its not morning, but I'm sitting here..... buying seeds online.... dreaming of spring gardening!!

Daughter Melissa is going to have a baby in July... so other than toting a babe, and feeding it.. she said she will have plenty of time to help garden. Ya.... right. We will see. She will be on Mat leave.. so.....AND NO MORE WEDDINGS... YAY!!

Those calves are cute!! I'M SO GLAD WE DON'T CALVE THIS TIME OF YEAR. lol. Gave the cow herd lots of extra straw this morning, because I knew it was going to rain sometime... and it is now. An hour ago, it started or so.

The almost yearlings are so big!! Gary has fed them more protein this time around.... and is going to try and finish them abit earlier. Well, with 30 heifers to 15 steers born... he will. Heifers get fatter/finished faster. Gee.. wonder why some of us girls seem to have extra finish on us... LOL.

After chores, went to Pleasant Ridge to exchange a christmas present shirt... out for lunch at Timmies... and took it to a train station in Brantford to watch trains of all things.... (hubby's favorite thing)... and I read the schedule! I can catch a train in Burlington (Aldershot), and take it to Glencoe!! So... maybe sometime I will just take the train!! Are you listening WLLady? I wonder if I could pack a few 'carry on ' chickens back home! LMAO.

Good morning.

Simcoe show today. I'm looking forward to heading over and seeing what it's all about. Then out of dinner with a friend locally and an evening in the hot tub. If it does t rain. What a great day ahead of me!!

Tomorrow is a Norwex party in Caledonia. I've been told to bring anyone who wants to go? Anyone?

We had a few cold days ... Chickens aren't so much fun in the cold. I definitely need to get a few waterers that plugs in .. Would make my life so much easier.
You know what chickens do when they're bored?? They eat!!! If they had a tv and converter they'd be the laziest, biggest fat assed chickens in Ontario!
Yesterday enough snow melted that some patches of grass was showing and they spent the afternoon scattered around on these little patches of grass eating like addicts that had just bought their next fix. Funny to watch how hapoy they were to be eating grass. I swear I hear nom nom nom a few times .

I'm proud of my gang. Snow, -20 and they were still outside. They visited the coop occasionally but funny to see .. They would be at the pen where there wasn't very much snow, step in the snow outside the pen, legs completely covered in snow, and suddendly decide to fly all the way to under the deck where there wasn't any snow. Then they would fly back when it was time. My Easter Eggers walked, roamed around and lived a normal life. Now those are some tough gals. My rooster is a pussy! He spends most of his day at the coop exit door complaining. Once I forcibly put him out he's ok, but until I do he just complains and complains.

My porcelain silkies weren't deterred by the weather ... I did keep them in the coop the one day that was terribly windy and very very cold ... But they clearly wanted out the next morning. The new silkies I got from Doug and Barb recently will have nothing to do with being outside. Warmer days like yesterday and today I put them outside and we have visits and treats and they ended up staying out for the day yesterday, I just think they need some encouragement. I am totally in love with my silkies!! All 9 of them!!!

I have blacks, grey(blue) and porcelain. I just need 2 whites and I'm good. I'm waiting to see if one is a pullet or roo. If pullet then I'll get a white Roo. I got a few non-bearded with my last batch. I like non-bearded! They can see!!!

Looks like we're making some headway in the PikNik ... Sort of. Bellwood seems to be well received so hopefully a few more inputs are made over the weekend and Monday I can set up a poll for voting. Seems like a long drive for the easterners .. But we'll see how it all unfolds. I'll have to go and bug TomK, ahem, I don't see his listing of a few parks he said he'd throw up in that thread. Typical man ... Chase 'em to get anything done! Just kidding. Maybe. Sorta. Not really.

I need Ameraucana eggs for my Silkies to hatch out in the early spring ... Gotta get on that. Recommendations?

Have a great day!! Hopefully see some at the show!

Cheers
