Good Morning!

Post by Flat Rock Farm » Wed Dec 28, 2016 6:52 am

I'm in tears! That is truly an amazing gift there Dominion, something that will be treasured always!!

After my sister-in-law passed (10 years ago) my other sister-in-law took some of her dresses and each made us doll angels. She gave then to each of her siblings the Christmas after she passed as it was her favorite time of year. Our's is Christmas oriented and love getting her out each Christmas.

DL, what an awesome thing to do for you and to honour your mother!
And, what a wonderful idea, FRF!
Holidays that are supposed to be all about time with our loved ones, tend to lose their sparkle when some of those loved ones are missing. Those are awesome ways to remind you that in some ways, they are still with you.

Good Morning!

Good morning! I'm glad Christmas is over, and gone for another year. This year I found myself so busy, and so got the tree up on the 23rd, and it was down on the 26th. Everything put away, and everything clean!

Both Gary and I literally jumped out of bed before we were awake the morning of the 24th. It sounded like a tree had crashed onto the house, or some other building close-by. I ran downstairs and out the door (which faces the barn), but heard nothing, and saw nothing. At first I thought that some snow may have avalanched down onto the greenhouse, which in the past, it has been smashed before. Everything seemed calm. This was around 4am.

Went back to bed, and in the morning, looked around. This is what I found.

So yay. Everything came down. The back of the house.. which is the door we use all the time, is much the same. Snow/ice load in the eavestrough, and sliding heavy wet snow will pull it down also. Course, the spot sagging is right where the hydro comes in to the house.

Gary phoned some mennonite company yesterday, hopefully they will get back to us today. Not sure when they can come out.. winter is not ideal for repairs.. and we want to replace the whole roof as well.

Accountant is coming back this afternoon. He was here the Wed. before Christmas, but for some reason, when doing the year end... he printed the 2015 stuff, instead of this year. He was almost finished when he realized this, so packed up and left. He had somewhere else to go. So... today, if we 'have' to spend money, because GAWD forbid, you get to actually MAKE money in this day and age.... without having to spend it.... is a crime you know. GD income tax. Makes me so mad.

We had a similar thing happen when the nurse came to change Kathy's bandage. She stepped out of the front door and made two steps forward. Wouldn't you have it, a sheet of ice fell between her and me. Missed her completely. YAY!!
Eave stayed up though.

hey everyone!!!!

some people touch our lives in ways that change us forever....its truly beautiful.

bvf that totally sucks!!!! we have ice dam plates up and stuff....still didnt stop that heavy stuff!!! just glad we didnt nuke our von lady!!! itching like mad so i must be healing...i hope!!! and craving protein and fruit like crazy. lol poor hubby is probably going nuts with the "can you get x next time you go shopping?" Martin has been incredible. i can finally get out of bed and standing without help. still walking with the walker....and having a strange phobia about even trying stairs again for a bit. my balance is different now because i am now totally straight and back to my old height etc so sometimes if i lean to get something i pass "the critical point" and cant stop! lol slowly getting used to the different physics and its not too different than i was before. honestly a lot less pain!!!! yay! and i look like a human being in the mirror again!!!!

i heard my roosters crowing and turkeys gobbling this morning when martin was letting puppies in/out. i am actually feeling strong enough to maybe try to visit the barn this week....!!!!
small steps.

hope everyone has an awesome day!!!

My favourite aunt died last Thursday. Not one of my cousins bothered to let me know by email until Christmas day at 7:45 pm. My bad, I didn't check emails until yesterday, at which point it was too late to attend her funeral (which was held 2:00 pm yesterday afternoon). She had been suffering from Altzheimers for about 10 years. I sent numerous emails to my cousins over the years, asking if I could visit her, and asked where her care facility was. Not one of my cousins replied. I get that she was their mother, and very special to them. But she was special to me too.

Thank you all for caring. I really appreciate it. I must apologise, though: I don't know what possessed me to post about my aunt, and in the "good morning" thread, of all places.
It was a knee jerk reaction to the news, and having had time to think about it, I know that my cousins meant well, wanted me to remember her as the person she was before the disease took her away, so long before last week. My heart goes out to them for their loss. I can only magine how hard it must have been for them these past ten+ years.
