Re: Good Morning!
Ugh. So sick over here this week. Upper respiratory something (cold/flu?) complete with fever, cough, and laryngitis. Oldest son woke up with fever in the night; looks like it will be a snuggle day for us today. Had to clean my coops out yesterday - farm chores don't get sick days. Stay warm today everyone, -14 here this morning.

Re: Good Morning!
Good morning everyone! sorry chick-a-roo, hope you both feel better soon!
yeah, no break for sick farmers....sigh.
a little snowy, but not as bad as yesterday out there today. nice to see snow on the ground. i could use a little less blowing around but it's pretty on the ground staying still. first plowing of the winter happened last night. and shovelling. and frozen lids on the waterers. i hate that...go to open the lid to fill them up and the lid is frozen on. I found using a little bit of vegetable oil in the threads and on the o-ring helps that immensely. so. waterers all got hauled to the house, held under hot water until the lids thawed, and then thoroughly vegetable oiled LOL. then filled and hauled back to the coops.
loving having the barn, what a difference! no scraping the cars in the morning. tractor can stay plugged in for the block heater and still fires up at -10! novelty! i think the turkeys think it's spring. mine aren't laying, but the girls are all posturing for the boys so it should be soon. i see that clawton just ordered a sportsman....i'm soooooo seriously thinking about it. but i have 3 hovabators already that work just fine....LOL dangerous.
hope everyone has a great day.

Re: Good Morning!
We started out 10 years ago with two bottle fed heifers, offered to house a Bull each winter for a friend and now we have our own Bull and 14 Cows. we have 7 calves on the ground now and maybe 3 more yet to come. We do freezer beef and send about 3 steers/cows a year. My husband and I would like to cap it at twenty cows and one Bull and just keep those numbers. We both work in town and cash crop about 300 acres of Wheat, soybeans, corn, oats, black oil sunflower seed and popcorn.
