Good Morning!
Good to know that you are home and the operation went well. Remember that it takes a while for bones to grow tight around any screws that have been used, so let Martin take care of the birds.
On the other hand; 6 months after I had my neck fused, we were t-boned at an intersection in a brand new Impala. The force of the crash spun the car 180 degrees and slammed my head into the side windshield. X-rays showed no damage to the hardware!

Good Morning!
Merry Christmas everyone!
Yes, we are home! This is an awesome Christmas present. The doctors gave us a choice of Friday evening or Saturday morning after she was able to walk and do stairs. And the timing on the meds and all was perfect for Friday night. As I'm sure you guys know sleeping there sucks! So we went home.
Drive home was surprisingly good. The pain was not too bad with all the bumps in the road that were not avoidable. She slept pretty well the first night, but needs help turning from side to back to side. Getting out of bed got easier during the day yesterday. She only needs the walker for that now. So now the "big" thing is the turning in bed alone and the medication schedule. 4 and 6 hr schedules don't line up very easily when one is trying to sleep lol. And asking for help when she needs to roll over every so often is NOT her thing. Combined they make for a long night. Now last night it was better than before and with small steps like this we get there soon enough.
And for anyone wondering, yes the chickens and the other critters are well taken care off! The dogs and the cats have figured out that they need to be careful around her and even our bouncy GSP is behaving. Well, ok "behaving". But enough that he doesn't have to be in his crate all the ime.
So, we'll have a quiet Christmas, together, at home with all legs moving and no wheelchair needed. I hope everyone here also has the Christmas they wish to have.
Los of healh and Luck to everyone!

Good Morning!
So happy for you both that you get to be home for Christmas!
The best present ever
Kathy ASK for help!!!!! Don't be so stubborn. Lol
You can get stubborn later when you are healed
Martin - what can I say. You will just have to "read" her when she needs something until she gives in and learns to ask. Lol
Just joking both of you
Really though Kathy
I know it's hard to ask for help when you are so used to just doing !
It's really not so bad to ask
I even asked and guess what. It didn't kill me
Merry Christmas to you both!!!
And all the critters

Good Morning!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!! YAY the smashing Christmas lights are back!!
Thanks for the great update Martin. I totally understand about not wanting to ask for help when you are so used to doing for yourself, it's not in some of our natures to do that when we are so independent and stubborn (speaking for myself). Each day will get better

Good Morning!
Kathy, I would think the hard part is "pacing" yourself: your brain thinks of when you could do something but your body ain't there yet.
Glad you're home and improving, have a good week!

Good Morning!
Nothin wrong with being a little stubborn / independent as long as you don't hurt/ prolong your healing . A lot of time , knowledge & money has gone into getting you 100% better . Pace yourself . Yes nice to see the lights hope all are having a great morning . Thanks for the update Martin . Great news for Xmas morn .

Good Morning!
Merry christmas everyone!!!
Geez i thought i WAS asking for help. Oh well. We are laughing lots and its really quite funny some of it. I will fill you all in on the "superhero capes". Later.
Yeah turning over is hard. I cannot twist....and if i get twisted just a touch the pain from my head to my toes is not fun. Baron-the secret is the drugs....hydromorph, baclofen both give me incredible drug brain for the first 45 minutes they kick in. Very better to sleep than talk or anything!!! Pacing isnt hard but there are things i just will never do again. Hard to accept but I knew that going into this. I honestly figured i would be in a wheelchair today and i am not.
it will be at least a few weeks before i get back to the barn....i need to be able to use no walker in the house at all before doing that. And right now i still need the walker. And if anyone complains about my elbows on the table....
Merry christmas all! I am off to break some lights now!!!!
