Patterned eggs no less, you are starting an egg color envy here.
BTW, the temperature in the barn went from -16 to -6 within 2 hours, once sun hit the windows, so glad we added the ceiling insulation, that and the windows make all the difference.

Hah, my day was marvelous! It turns out an animal had dug into the old dirt basement allowing in enough cold air to freeze the water. (But easily remedied.)
Then the big tractor wouldn't start (60hp International) to clear the driveway. Suspect starter/solenoid so I fired up the Kubota while I took the starter off the big red. My dad drove off with the starter, I return to the Kubota spewing green fluid! So I shut it down, check the rad...its full...pull the side hoods off..must be the thermostat didn't open and blew a hose or seal of some kind. Of course its parked in a bad spot so if I wanted to call someone to tow it they couldn't get at it. It'll have to wait for a warmer day..start with the thermostat...then see what else leaks.

Got the big red back together but sun is going down ($700 later) so I'll have extra snow for tomorrow morn.
I see where my dad parks his Subaru and oil drops on snow. We'll have to watch it closely.

Go back to the barn and one chicken has a frozen foot so she goes to freezer camp tomorrow morn.

Yeeha...

So I went to the theatre with Carla and we went to catch the late show; Star Wars Rogue 1. Nothing beats a real big screen, and the movie was a blast!

Glad the movie was good baron. The rest of your day sounds an awful lot like some of the days that have happened here....hope its a simple fix for the kubota!!! And red too!!! Hopefully its the only fixes needed all winter too!!

Sorry to hear about chicken...i had one line that had some kind of circulation issues and one rooster actually froze both feet one night....weird...first time i had ever seen it. Not a good thing for sure. But still sucks.

I thoroughly enjoyed being in my pool yeterday with the snow falling outside lol. Today my ultra-stressful job is doing laundry and folding it lol. And drinking tea. And then trimming claws anf beaks in the barn and spot cleaning pens and givng a few more shavings....Will call my dad later today and see how hes doing-they called off his chemo this week because his platelets and wbc counts tanked. Sigh. So hopefully he is feeling a bit better and able to get back to chemo just after christmas...

The fluffy snow is awesome. Love it. Wish i could go and play in it!! Maybe next year. I will settle for playing in the pool today and tomorrow again...then i get to be a lazy schtick for 3 months....

Hang in there baron-days like that become history and build character lol. Hope everyone has a great saturday!!!

Ohhh, I'm jealous Baron! Did it make up for spending all day fighting with tractors?
The countdown is on, WLLady, by this time on Tuesday, you'll have a rebuilt back. Or at least, it will be held together like one of Al's fixits and should get a few more years out of it lol

@WLLady I could send you a little cuddle bum chicken to keep you company after surgery.
Every morning without fail "Little" is on my lap the second I sit down in the coop pecking at my coat zipper for me to undo it so she can crawl in for a quick nap.

That's awesome photos Happy!!!

Baron glad your day ended better than it started.

Liking the "warmer" weather today, I was worried about my birds, especially my ayam cemani, in the cold weather, I don't use any heat for any on my birds and except for 2 hens all my chickens are 2016 hatch, so far looks like everyone made it through first couple cold days.

Time to go fire up the snow blower for the first time, we have a guy the plows the driveway, but looks like I should go snow blow a path back to the birds.

Have a good day.

Sorry Baron to hear of your bad day, I didn't think it was cold enough yet for frozen feet. Only had that happen when they roosted on a metal barrel.
