Now, this is MY opinion, and I will state it here.

First, off, this world needs a good culling. Diseases like this and the dreaded spanish flu and the likes are good for things like this. But, this world is NOT prepared to deal with mass die-off's, and back then they weren't either. Mass burials and burnings would have to take place....like they did back then. I hate to say this... but can you imagine the population today, if all the mass murders hadn't taken place?? The Holocaust, flu's...but if all those people/ descendants were here to populate, (there would be a billion more people or more by now)... there surely would have been a similar disease before now. Like a couple others here have said.. all the ignorant me me me's can be picked off. I'm not worried if I get it. If I die from it, I die. I'm worried about maybe things to come, if someone (my dad has copd/emphysema), and if both my parents get picked off....(my mom is early onset dementia... and god forbid, she can't live on her own.. shes capable, but watched her burn food, and dad said the smoke alarm has gone off more than once)... my mom can't live alone, and doesn't drive (obvi), and when we brought her down for a few days at Christmas, it was HELL.. because she was convinced we conspired (us sisters), to take her from her home (she agreed to come), where she said she never would have agreed..and came down to where she was going to call the police to take her home. I worry about ME... selfish, but then I will be forced to 'look after things', if I'm not dead/sick.

I've always planned ahead, for anything. Thankful I have a full freezer of hamburger, and everyone of us had a 1/4 beef put in the freezers. (kids). I have 2 packages of Costco toilet paper. I always want one in stock, and when I run out, I get another. Same with paper towel. I own bees, and have tons of jars of honey. I have chickens, and get a dozen eggs a day. Obviously own beef cattle... and if I have to eat the guinea's... well, down they go. I have enough jars of various pickles to last me and the family for 2 years. Applesauce I'm still eating having done 80 jars 5 years ago. (Its still good). 50 litres of Maple syrup done just this year... and about 15 from 2 years ago. I have frozen beans/peppers/corn, from last year and year before still. Also have 6 fat broiler chickens/3 turkeys/a duck in the freezer. Many prepared meals by me.. lasagnes, apple pies and crisps. Tons of frozen raspberries I grow. (I admit.. I also throw out more than I use, to put fresh stuff in. Stupid... maybe). I also have tons of dry goods, so all I need really is fresh stuff like celery and carrots to feed the meal worm farm I am raising. (Thanks WLL). If I have to, I will roast those babies and cover them with chocolate, lol.

So... if I do die (and even if I don't), I will have food left for the kids, grands who gets thru this. None of them garden and squirrel away like I do/have done.

I think I have a pretty good immune system (drive the bus), have animals (the cattle go thru a stint of coronavirus every once in awhile). One year it was really bad for them, and we had to medicate thru the water for whatever the vet gave us. They pulled thru. What a snotty coughing shitty experience that was.

I tend to have a big mouth, and cannot tolerate people when they do stupid stuff around me. I commented to a couple people at Costco last Thursday night (thought I would go with Gary... he had an appointment for getting his hearing aids) hoarding stuff...and could very well get punched in the mouth, but its gotten so bad. Now they are lined at the door of Costco in Ancaster, out to the road, and that was 1:45 pm yesterday. Heathers friend sent her the pic; but by then most of the bread/milk/paper products/flour/peanut butter were nearly gone. Well, some were all gone.

I HATE the fact that I'm not driving bus for 3 weeks (March break is bad enough), but found out we are still getting paid.. but I get so bored with nothing to do. I've planted flowers/lettuce.. some peppers. Pricked them out/repotted. Cleaned this hellhole 40 times, and everything else I can think to do. Barn work done up/clean. I've been splitting wood, but with this spongey time of year, the guys can't bring/cut up enough wood to keep me busy every day! Reading is fine/puts me to sleep. Watching tv/movies is fine, but before the ending of whatever, I get jumpy to get doing something. I feed the birds, all done up, all the time. Trying to trap squirrels, and ocassionally get lucky. Find laundry to do, and hang it out. Too early to garden, and I've been around this place every single day, twice more if I'm out, looking at the spring bulbs coming up. I think I am crazy, lol.

Sorry for the looooong ramble. I've been out, been in, been out... now in. Ugh.

This is an important read for everyone i think....as a scientist this is agonizing....we should have been doing these measures 3-4 weeks ago! it's good we are doing them now, but the scientist in me says this is a "lock everything down NOW because it's already too late". Yes people will bitch and complain, but how will it be when their grandparents are both dead, their spouse with high blood pressure/diabetes/heart disease is gone, the health care system crumbles under the load and they can't get help when they need it? A small period of pain now, kids bored to tears and all that....(me being asocial well i can live VERY happily on my farm forever more perfectly happily and find things to keep me busy), I ricochet between "whatever" and "i want to crawl under a rock and never come back out until this is all over" and the scientist in me is quickly moving to the latter....this is long and very fact based, but i think it's one of the best written pieces i have seen yet. but yes, the one farrier posted is priceless. i do not know how she can do that while keeping a straight face!

Kathy, I am so appreciative of your knowledge and outlook. I also am sort of antisocial or however you put it. When I posted way back about just going about my business, that was for me not the general population, because my normal going about my business doesnt bring me into contact with great numbers of people. I have been on the streets of Shanghai and Moscow and London etc at 5 in the afternoon, and yes that sort of crowded contact should be curtailed as much as possible.

I always think of these things as "Mother Nature Cleaning up"
Being in the "should stay home demographic " and being laid up with something for the past 2 weeks, I found myself baking cake today for no reason at all, boredom is setting in already.
