Winter Storm Warning!

We've got a dusting here, just enough to make everything look clean. Hovering just below zero. I forgot a hose out in one of the cow troughs, guess I better get the float shut off thingy out of there before it busts. It's not overly windy out, but the sound has changed so that it sounds worse than it is. Brr lol. 4 months until Spring!

Yes, that sure was a rude awakening yesterday, especially since we had to go out. We received like a foot of snow, but due to the blowing snow it varied in places. It quit snowing, but we had that cold wind and blowing snow. My husband changed the tires on my car before we left. I wouldn't have done it, if I were him. I may not have liked it much, but I would have rode in his dirty car. lol We usually take my car when we go out. We were lucky because the snow wasn't quite, as deep in the driveway and we managed to make it out without having to plow.

The roads were treacherous, icy and snow covered all the way. I couldn't believe even the major main highway 17 through Kakabeka Falls, what a mess. Carillion from Southern Ontario looks after our roads. People who live here are not happy with these guys and I don't know how many times they have been fined. I guess it about the almighty dollar, no concern for people's lives. I should have had my camera with me and taken pictures.

Well, anyways we made it to the "Celebration of Life", and I'm sure glad we did.

It was like -16 last night, tonight -14 and continuing to improve daily. They are forecasting more snow for Wednesday, but not nearly, as much and a lot less windy like 10 km/hr vs the 50-60 km winds we experienced. The high will be 2 and the low -1 forecast. I can handle that much better.

I should have added our chickens and ducks did not even want out yesterday. Today a few went out, but that was short lived and they went back inside the coop. They will be happy with the warm up too.

None of ours came out today either. Hubby missed a great photo op when he was bringing a panel into the run today to serve as a wind/snow break. Hands full and no phone or camera in range, but there were three little chicken heads looking out at him through the pop-door.
"WACO, but hey, thanks - good job bringing in that wind break."

(ETA: WACO is short for "We aren't coming out", although as a "whacko" misspelling, it fits too. :-) )

It's cold, snowy and blowing here! The birds went into their respective coops at 5:30!

Snowing again, cold and blowing. Drifted up against the barn back door, so first real snow of the season AND first shovelling. None of the critters went out except the cows, but they were quite happy to come in for fresh hay tonight!
