Good Morning!

Post by Ontario Chick » Mon Oct 24, 2016 11:41 am

Good morning!
Cold and windy this morning, listened to coyotes singing and then an owl hooting and then the roosters started, really, you would think after hearing the coyotes, they would keep it down ?
Time to band the pullets before they get folded in to the main flock, and before I can't tell who was who.
Also time to take down the netting covering the runs, the youngsters are old enough and the leaves are getting caught in the netting.
Most of the golden beauty is gone after all the wind time to take the parsnips out and collect Cosmos seeds to see if I can grow them again next year.

good afternoon everyone! WINDY here! Just did a hospital run to London and back for injections and our weather here is WAY better than London-cloudy and rainy and windy and about 8C colder than here! we at least have some sun....but it's howling out. Time to stay in.
Just got 4 injections done....he's an awesome doctor but still not the most pleasant procedure to have done. Glad it's over, hopefully in a few days things will start feeling better. too bad they can now see the scoliosis when i'm lying down, so it's not staying the same-used to straighten out when i lay down, it's getting a bit worse. Sigh. oh well, surgery is coming up in december hopefully as planned.....some pretty good bone spurs growing in there too now.

The cosmos are beautiful OC! I can't grow them here, too much wind and they end up all short and horizontal....lost the morning glories last week....so almost time to collect seed from them! i let them ramble up whatever they can find to climb here. All different colours.
Lots of munchkins to new homes this weekend! and a few more hatched. Svart Hona baby is doing great under broody mom at Tania's place, along with the 2 other fuzzybutts she took to get mom off eggs. she has 3 little ones now, and is happy as anything! no clue if it's a pullet or cockerel (the svart hona) but sure is BLACK! LOL.

alright. final submission on a grant coming later today, and hopefully time for a horizontal sleeping surface in an hour or so....both my legs are pleasantly numb right now (makes stairs a bit of a challenge) but at least they don't HURT....hoping that my back calms down in the next few days so i can actually get things done again, and walk upright again without catching my left toes on the floor, silly things like that.

hope everyone has a great day!

The forecast for Wednesday says 5-10cm of snow here! Ugh. Good thing it's only a 30% chance - I am not ready for snow yet. Just started looking for a new snowblower to replace our poor old one that does not want to keep pushing the amount of snow we get. What we really need is a toy like baronrenfrew's!

so a goose was eating from the chickens's food pot (this goose was an outcast from the main group and didn't eat with the rest) and a chicken came to eat and a standoff occurred between the cornish hen who wouldn't back down and the goose. Head down and hissing the goose stood her ground over the food pot. The goose outmatches the hen in size and power, but not cunning. The hen grabs the tongue of the hissing goose. The goose startled and alarmed breaks free and backs away hissing. The hen won.

I didn't see it but Mike (the young lad working for me) did, to much delight.

Ahh the barnyard entertainment.
