Good Morning!

Post by WLLady » Wed Oct 05, 2016 8:30 am

good morning everyone! another beautiful sunrise!
well, haven't got the framing quite where i wanted it to be by now....but maybe tonight i'll get a bit further. was a little wary about putting 4 inch screws into a 4.5 inch space...where the 0.5 inch ends at the pool liner! so. figured something out, so now it's a 4 inch screw into basically a 5 inch space, giving me an inch clearance, i'm a bit happier with that.
and hubby had to be up early, so he could drug the dog this morning before he left, and i could do the food.....this liver thing is every 12 hours, but has to be given at least an hour before food....or 4 hours after food! so i didn't have to get up at 430 yay!
started moving my girls into their breeding pens last night, so the barn was a bit noisy for a while...hopefully they'll settle down today. everyone has a friend that they moved with, so at least they're not all alone with strange birds! they've started laying, so nows the time! they're all being banded, so i can tell them apart-the older girls are going to a new home shortly. this weekend the boys are being processed, they got an extra week grace out of me because i had too much to do last weekend. we'll put them to the freezer. then i'll figure out who is going up to their new homes and figure out how many that leaves me with to worry about for the winter. everyone will be in the barn which will be nice.
well, half way through the week! we can make it!!! the weekend is coming!
hope everyone has a great day.

Its a nice morning out there!! Sun shining and light breeze! But then heard on the radio in Burlington about a tractor trailer, that rolled over with its load of pigs. Headed to Fearmans apparently. Honestly, right at an intersection. The guy must have been peeling around that corner! How else would he have rolled. Poor pigs. That will give that woman who got arrested for giving a trailer load of pigs a drink some fodder for her defense. Which in my opinion, she should have left them alone.

So... chores this morning, and early our feed salesman is coming out and we are going for lunch in town. I'm hoping to make a quick bank stop while down there. The ground is still very wet from the rain we had last weekend..... but I'm hoping to plant my tulip bulbs and daffodil bulbs before too long. Going to be a nice warm day for that. AND plant another chestnut tree. Have a few in stock that I started but never planted. Reserve trees, for that ASS that keeps killing the ones I planted along the road. This one in question, he just plain ran over it with his lawnmower. Better quit now.. I feel the anger bubbling up all over again, over the tree situation on this farm.

I ivomec'd and wormed my chickens last weekend, after I got rid of alot of my layers.... because I wasn't getting many eggs, and the newest girls are just starting.... because I will have to throw what I get away for awhile. So that worked out perfectly. Although I can see into that pen now... theres just as many birds in there now, as there was before I got rid of alot, and put the new ones in. Oh well. The EE's I kept are moulting too... so it doesn't hurt as much throwing out those few eggs I'm getting.

Well, I supposed I'd better get down to the barn. Been playing with the new calf... want to keep her some day, although she will be out of sync when everyone else goes out to be bred. No matter. Shes the first heifer calf shes had in forever... and I want to keep her. Which is contradictory, because I want to get rid of all the cows, lol.

It looked like a beautiful morning as I watched the sunrise on my two hour drive to a conference today. Haven't seen outside since I got here.

Good luck with the tree BVF. I tend to get extremely worked up when I see people blantanly damage trees, so I get the anger.

I get to pick my sick kitty up from the clinic today! Poor thing went in on Thursday and only just recovering. Orange male cats and FUS...typical.

Great stuff, congrats!!!

Good morning,
Missed few days at the barn, the juniors are growing in leaps and bounds, had hard time figuring out who was who, accept for "chunky" still chunky ;)
Overcast here now yesterday was just a fabulous day, the maples are going pretty fast, the flaming orange of yesterday is pretty bare today.
Going to take a dog and a grandson in stroller for a walk, see if I can still manage both at the same time ;)
Sun coming out now, perfect timing,
Have a good one!

will take a look around KB :-)

well, i just heard that ontario is thinking of closing operating rooms for 3 weeks in december. Guess i'll be putting in a call to my surgeon to see what this means for me.....man there are some very unhappy people around here right now (i work next to the hospital, and know a lot of clinicians-this is NOT what they want to be doing....they want to be working and helping people not have their hands tied by budget). Me, I just want fixed.....gah.

baronrenfrew wrote:QR_BBPOST Hhmmm, I thought turkeys would be tougher meat as they got old; just like old roosters and pheasants. Any special marinade or cooking treatment?
I've not found that to be true, except for wings and most of the drumstick...and it's not so much that the meat is tough, but that they're all tendon and hardly any meat, compared to a meat turkey. I just cook those down for soup. But that's true of heritage or wild turkeys no matter how old... I've eaten some pretty old birds, and thighs and breast were firm but not tough. Drumsticks no good though.

My year old Jake was great after 4 days rest in the fridge. I parted him out, breast very tender, thighs good but I wouldn't stir fry. Drumsticks - taken off bone, marinated in lime juice, ginger root and yoghourt overnight the pan fried with spices and veggies. Stock - fabulous!

I agree. The first time I saw that other thing... well, instead of a beer, or a drink.. it looked like someone was holding a gun to their heads. I still see that, when I see that icon, lol.
