Good Morning!

Post by baronrenfrew » Fri Aug 12, 2016 8:36 pm

Adhd? Me? One woman...many birds lol.
I have made a few bucks on my trades. Not much if you count my time and gas, but I have had fun.
Also I made a commitment to buy the birds but they weren't exactly as advertised. Good but not as good as I expected. No sense showing up and telling the seller no thanks when I can buy them and resell them for the same price or a minor markup.

Good morning!
Sandy and Bert, my take on your "shopping around for the "one" breed, you are just in the "dating" period.
Once you find the right one, you will know!!! ;)
Raining steadily here, but it may just be too little too late.
Interestingly Mississippi Conservation authority (?) just declared the draught as "Severe" on the day we got first rain
Yesterday I noted all the ferns turned yellow even around the marsh and some birches turned yellow and dropped most of their leaves.
Some of the young butternuts actually look scorched brown. The only thing that looks happy green are wild grape vines, makes me wonder just how deep their roots are.
The chickens look a bit bemused be the turn of things, it will be couple days before anybody can go outside again Thank god and Silky Sue for the quonsets. :)
Planning to spend the day watching grass grow :)
Have a good one!

Sorry the dark cornish dont make your cut bert. They are from good lines-the best i could find...hopefully you can find some you like.

Still waiting on rain and an end to the humidity here. This weather is obnixious. Guess i should get out into the garden and get the weeding done. So humid....thunder but precious little rain. We need more!!!

Nice short visit from bvf...clawton got his guineas and i have an incubator full of eggs for hatching now. In 21 days its going to get noisy here lol. Then even more so in 28 days. Lol

Dont forget if folks out east want soap to pm www. And get your photo sumissions in for the photo contest!!! Theres only 1 entry so far!!!

Kathy, I am actually refferring to sebastopol geese I bought last week that were advertised as purebred and they're crossbreeds. I bought them anyways and sold them this week for $10 more.
The cornish you sold me are decent birds and I am: 1. looking for other birds to add to the flock or 2. selling them (if the price is right.)
That's the beauty of poultry: they're not as big a commitment as cattle or horses (for price or transport).

JimW wrote:QR_BBPOST Another hot and dry one here today. maybe some rain in the next few days, I hope. Our lawn is about 70% brown and crunchy, at least no cutting required.

It has taken awhile, but the basement is getting close to done.... TomK did the ceiling way back months ago, thanks Tom. We have painted, installed laminate flooring and river recovered pine tongue and groove on 2 walls, working on finishing up trim work and installing new lights.

Taking a few days off of basement renos, I have a bass fishing tournament on the Bay of Quinte on Saturday and Sunday.

Getting cloudy here not sure if we will see much in the way of stars tonight.

JimW
let us know how you do in that tourney Jim-friend of ours, hubby and I were out bass fishing on Thursday at Hay Bay, and got 1 fish in 6 hours (plus a medium sunburn and a bit of dehydration thrown in) They were showing on the radar, down deep for coolness but not biting at all. Balls of feederfish at the bottom too so likely they were stuffed too. Water stank though, lots of algae and yellow pollen on top. So threw the one fish back. Good luck-and if they are biting closer to the open water, then maybe we needed to drive further towards Belleville to drop the boat in.

Whoo hoo, we've had at least 6 rain fronts pass through today since 6 am and last look at the rain gauge at the farm at 4 there had been 20 mm and quite a bit since. Grass looks greener already!!!!

Whether it will be enough to salvage the corn and soybeans around here will have to be seen, here's hoping!

Of course it was the day my step son had both baseball and soccer tournaments but since the baseball was postponed until tomorrow, he got to play the soccer despite the rain....

With luck, the ground will have gotten a decent soaking and I can get going on reclaiming the garden here that I've ignored up until now because it was too dry and solid clay.

I had a lovely day with family at my great nieces second birthday party. It was nice to be dripping wet from rain instead of sweat ;) Came home to my feed delivery sitting in my laneway soaking wet. I told the guy that I' wouldn't be home to accept the load today. 900lbs of feed and 25 small squares of nice 2nd cut all soaked. The big rounds will be fine but the rest will be gross in a day or two with this warm weather Grr.
