Good Morning!

Post by JimW » Fri Aug 05, 2016 10:26 pm

Got home from my little 1000 km road trip about an hour ago. Good traveling, except the torrential thunderstorms the last hour and a half.

Watching some Olympics Opening Ceremony.

Dont be afraid to spray your birds down with cool water if they get heat stroke! And ice cubes in the waterers keeps water nice and cool...

Out here the fire department is hired by the big turkey farms to come around with the pumper tanker trucks to hose down birds in the fields so they dont get heat stroke....

So...Jim...how many "chicken" miles (kilometres) have you logged in the last three years? 5000?
I've done 2400.

I'm constantly putting ice cubes in the water. I have an ice machine in the fridge so it's working all day They also got 1/2 a watermelon and 1/2 a cantaloupe yesterday.

Thankfully the extreme humidity broke over night. Leaving the coop door open has made a huge difference to the temps in the coop. Lots of coop chores to get done today. I should get at it soon.

Ava is a nut job. It's official.

her face says it all.

Well, I'm off to get things done before it gets too hot. Have a great day everyone.

Congrats to you both Ross!!! Have a wonderful celebration!!!

So much less humid today. We had one big rain during the bbq last night but just headed to the garage. Only lasted 20 minutes or so. No rain at home as far as i can tell.

Feed store run...then groceries. Then coop cleaning...or weeding...or...? I like weekends.

Perseid showers are already pretty neat. Peak is thursday through friday this coming week. We will be watching!! We have seen a few nice shooting stars the last week already.

Hope everyone has a great day!!! Stay cool!!

Wow. This group sure is a busy bunch of people. Haven't had time to be on last few days. Have lots to catch up on.

Looking forward to pics of Jim's latest acquisitions.

Sandy, that Ava is the cutest. Glad you are feeling better. If we have the picnic west next year, I should have some Muscovy ducklings I could bring.

WLLady, very envious of what your getting from your garden. Lots of hard work does pay off.

Our next round of broody hens are hatching. My Isbar, Lola has 3 with her. Took the rest of the eggs and divided them up under the other 4. The chicks following the other 9 are all doing well. Most of the 4/5 week olds are off on their own already.

Wish we had a livestock auction closer to us. Have some nice roosters to sell. Will post pics on here this weekend. They won't all fit in the freezer.

Hope everyone has a great day.
